// MISSION

At Bat is striving to increase the number of at-risk youth who participate in baseball and softball by providing free clinics and low-cost programs.

// KEY SERVICES PROVIDED

At Bat is an amateur sports agency that conducts baseball and softball activities for youth. The organization teaches the fundamentals of the sports, and how to play safely while building confidence and self-assurance. With limited funding, At Bat has serviced more than 150 children through clinics and programs. That number is expected to triple in the coming year by increasing the number of clinics and programs, engaging more parents, and training volunteers to be mentors. Additionally, the organization plans to take the game of baseball to a new level by using sabermetrics to design drills that incorporate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through collaboration with community organizations and neighborhood block clubs, At Bat plans to connect urban youth to the game, with the ultimate goal of increasing African-American representation in the MLB from 8.5 percent to double digits.

At Bat Offers:

Baseball and/or Softball Clinics: Introduce youth ages 6-13 to the fundamentals of baseball and/or softball. Youth engage in pitching, catching, and/or hitting drills.

After-school Program: During the school year, Voyageur Academy K-8 students learn baseball and nutrition fundamentals, build self-esteem, and apply academic concepts to real-life examples through structured activities. Starting Oct. 17, 2018, every Wednesday and Thursday except on nonscheduled school days.

Youth Development: Youth will enhance their in-school learning through activities that drive home concepts in science, technology, engineering, and math while using sports.

Let's Play Ball: Summer baseball and/ or softball league for youth. Earlybird registration begins in March 2019.
