Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit

Give Detroit - A Charitable Registry

The vision of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to see all children succeed in life. They believe mentoring provides a pathway to hope, and their mission is to provide children facing adversity with safe, strong, enduring, and professionally supported one-to-one relationships that will change their lives for the better, forever.

Big Brothers Big Sisters provides one-to-one mentoring for vulnerable youth in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. Traditional programs serving youth 8 to 18 years old include:

Lunch Buddies: These biweekly, school-based sessions provide an opportunity for a mentor to work one-on-one with a student in a facilitated group setting.

Workplace Mentoring: Students are empowered for success through strong mentoring relationships with a focus on youth development and career exploration. Students are transported to local corporate offices for bimonthly sessions with their volunteer mentor.

Community-based: Traditional, one-on-one mentor relationship that provides flexibility for monthly outings and activities such as sporting events, museums, homework help, walks, or just hanging out.
