Give Detroit - A Charitable Registry

// MISSION

VIP Mentoring is dedicated to creating sustainable, meaningful relationships for children in Michigan, especially in Detroit, where challenging circumstances seriously compromise their opportunities to succeed.

// KEY SERVICES PROVIDED

VIP Mentoring’s services include community- based mentoring, location-specific mentoring, community service activities, and college and career readiness programming. Their vision is to be recognized as a mentoring organization with a unique competency that allows it to gain access into difficult communities and work effectively with its most at-risk and vulnerable youth.

Location-Specific Mentoring: Staff-facilitated work at a school or community center on the same day each week focusing on goal setting, career and college readiness, and basic life skills.

Community-Based Mentoring: Pick up a child each week for an activity planned by mentor and mentee.

One-Time Volunteer Opportunities: Community service, speaking to classes, helping with special projects, chaperoning a field trip to a museum or college tour.

College and Career Readiness Plans: All mentors receive a 52-session plan on college/career/ life skills readiness that can be followed during their mentoring relationship.
