KING OF CABBAGE: TO THE HEAD OF THE CLASS

Clay Burch from Cadillac, Mich., has a green thumb — and a somewhat greener financial outlook. He’s receiving a $1,000 savings bond courtesy of the National Bonnie Plants Cabbage Program. Since 2002, the Alabama-based national plant wholesaler has sent “oversized”cabbage plants to third- grade classrooms whose teachers have signed up for the program. Scholarships are given to one student in each participating state. For information, visit bonnieplants.com.

Harry’s: A Shaving Startup Looks to Change the Game // Let’s face it — no one enjoys shaving, and chances are when it comes to picking out a razor, your mind goes on auto-pilot … head to the drugstore and pick up a pack of the usual. Harry’s is looking to create a direct-to-consumer boutique experience. The startup purchased a 93-year-old German razor factory for $100 million to obtain high-grade steel razors. It was started by a co-founder of Warby Parker, a company that found success in a similar concept for fashionable glasses. The packaging is to die for, but more importantly Harry’s sells what they like to call “shaving experiences.” Blades are $2 or less, and full shaving sets including shaving cream start at $15. harrys.com

100 Good Deeds Bracelets // We all could use a little reminder to pay it forward, and these bracelets offer a simple way to promote daily acts of kindness. Designed by advocate, author, and artist Mary Fisher, the braided nylon cord is strung with 100 glass beads and a single rubber ring. Each time a good deed is performed, simply move the ring one bead closer toward the “1GD” button. Fisher, Co-chair of the Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Foundation, has spent a decade working with at-risk women in Africa, most recently teaching them jewelry-making skills for this new collection, which allows them to earn a decent living. A variety of colors are available, and all proceeds are reinvested in the 100 Good Deeds Program. $30. 100gooddeeds.org

I Love Me Rings // To promote health and inspire self-love for women, certified health coach Arielle Fierman designed beautiful rings with the saying “I love me,” engraved inside. “After seeing so many women struggle with co-dependence and self-loathing, I decided to create a tangible, gentle reminder to inspire self-love,” Fierman says. The rings are part of her “iloveme jeWELLry collection,” are available in a variety of styles, and are energized with reiki (energy healing). Prices start at $300. bewellwitharielle.com/jewellry
