This unique festival has grown to involve more aspects of the area while providing an opportunity for area residents to show, through visual arts, aspects of Lyon Township and South Lyon life in a unique way. The festival brings together several important community elements; non-profits organizations, the businesses community and area residents of all ages who create and publically display one-of-a-kind videos with the South Lyon area as a backdrop.
The Lyon Film Festival is an event where videos are submitted, critiqued by television and multimedia professionals and displayed to audiences over the festival weekend; all taking place in South Lyon and Lyon Township. The Lyon Film Festival is now accepting entries for the 2012 festival.
· Friday, May 25 – Deadline for entries · Friday, June 1 – Free Outdoor Screening Night – Lyon Township Park. All videos shown to the public for the first time. · Saturday, June 2 – Producer’s Reception. Meet, Greet and Eat. Everyone who enters is invited to a reception and discuss the artistic side of content creation. Location to be announced. · Sunday, June 3 - Festival Awards Ceremony at the Lyon Theatre. Again this year, the festival will include two cash awards. The Friends of the Salem-South Lyon District Library is sponsoring the Library Choice Award. The video deemed as the favorite of the library staff will be awarded $250. Plus, at the Free Outdoor Screening on June 1, the audience will vote on their favorite video. The video with the most votes receives The Lyon Film Festival Audience Choice Award and $150.
3 Minutes in Lyon Film Festival is a non-profit organization based in South Lyon, Michigan founded in 2009 by Rich Perry. The festival is dedicated to providing students, video hobbyists and amateur filmmakers’ opportunities to explore, practice and demonstrate cinematography, writing for film, editing and storytelling using multimedia. |
