I would like to introduce you to an event that will give your audience, listeners and readers an opportunity to publicly display their works in a local Film Festival. 3 Minutes in Lyon Film Festival is an event, unique to the South Lyon/Lyon Township area, which will challenge students and video enthusiasts to tell a compelling and entertaining story within three minutes. The festival also allows participants to express their ideas and display their multimedia talents without the need for significant finances and resources that a professional film requires. The 3 Minutes in Lyon Film Festival is now open and accepting entries for the 1st Annual Lyon Film Festival to be held in May, 2010.
It is exciting to see people of all ages use the wide array of multimedia creation tools available and develop very unique and entertaining creations. This festival is an opportunity to obtain hands on experience in the complete development process of multimedia creation including idea conception, screenwriting, cinematography, composition, editing and the art of telling a story that moves the audience. With the increasing presence of the film industry in Michigan, the demand for talent that understands how to visually and effectively speak to an audience will be in high demand.
Another aspect of this event is to introduce people to our great community and hopefully bring more business to our downtown and extended business community. A requirement for entry is that content is to be acquired (videotaped etc) within South Lyon, LyonTownship, Kensington Metropark and Island Lake Recreation Area.
I started the 3 Minutes in Lyon Film Festival this summer and it is now a non-profit organization recognized by the State of Michigan and based in South Lyon, Michigan. The organization is dedicated to providing students, video hobbyists and amateur filmmakers’ opportunities to practice and demonstrate cinematography, writing for film, editing and storytelling using multimedia.
Personally, I have been involved in television or new media as a producer, director, editor and videographer for over 20 years in the Southeast Michigan area. Today I work in the communication technology field using new media to provide video based distance learning tools. To help establish the festival, I have worked closely with Lise Blades, a Photojournalism teacher at CousinoHigh School in WarrenConsolidated Schools. Ms. Blades has been instrumental in preparing the structure of the educational criteria for this Festival as well as for organizing the outdoor screening component.
The entry form, entry rules and instructions are available on the website, www.lyonfilmfestival.org along with the judging panel’s bios, judging criteria and all other details about the festival. If you have questions of any kind, please feel free to contact me at: Office: 248-434-8059 Email: LyonFilmFestival@gmail.com
I hope you will take a moment to inform your audience of this project that is unique to our small community yet, hopefully, the beginning of a much larger festival in years ahead. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Richard Perry Founder, 3 Minutes in Lyon Film Festival
