Lightwire Theatre presents The Ugly Duckling and the Tortoise and the Hare, a light and dance show spectacular. Watch as dancers, equipped with tubes of lighting on their body, dance through the dark and light up the  imagination. 4 p.m. Dec. 2. $27.

Eisenhower Dance Ensemble

ORT and the City 2016

On May 19, ORT held its spring fundrasier "Ort and the City" in Shed 5 at Eastern Market in Detroit. Guests enjoyed a strolling dinner via food trucks, silent auctions, and more. Proceeds benefitted the organization, which provides students with educational and vocational programs, social services assistance, and financial support to remain in school and break the cycle of poverty.

On May 9, Hour Media held its Top Dentists party at Bistro 82 in Royal Oak. The private dinner celebrated this year’s honorees, who are selected after polling area dentists, orthodontists, periodontists, and other specialists.

On May 18, the St. John Hospital and Medical Center Guild held its 56th annual Guild Dinner at the MGM Grand Detroit. Guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, and more. Proceeds benefitted the renovation of the birthing center at St. John Hospital and Medical Center.
