Roaring Into Our 20s Gala 2018

Kids on the Go hosted their “Roaring into our 20’s Gala event on Nov. 3 at the Gem Theatre in Detroit. Guests listened to live music by Grosse Pointe jazz trio Ed Cantrell & Friends, participated in a strolling dinner, live auction and raffles. The event garnered funds for the Grosse Pointe Woods charity to continue providing free summer therapy to special needs children in the metro Detroit area.

Black and White Ball 2018

The Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT) held their Black and White Ball at Rochester’s Royal Park Hotel on Nov. 3. The ball, hosted by General Motors, featured casino games and lectures from local, female technology leaders. After guests enjoyed dinner, a live auction was held to raise funds to support MCWT’s mission to inspire and grow Michigan’s community of women in technology.

Chocolate Jubilee: A Night in Havana 2018

The Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Michigan Chapter hosted their Chocolate Jubilee: A Night in Havana event at the MGM Grand Detroit on Oct. 27. Attendees of the jubilee, which is celebrating its 34th year, enjoyed dinner, danced to the sounds of local band Nouveauté, and sampled chocolates from metro Detroit exhibitors. The event raised $1.2 million for the Alzheimer’s Association to continue funding research, support, and critical care for those affected by the disease.

Comedy and Cocktails 2018

On Oct. 19, the Macomb Community College Foundation held their fifth annual Comedy and Cocktails event at the Lorenzo Cultural Center. Guests sipped on champagne, savored appetizers and a gourmet dinner, and enjoyed live performances by Broadway's Next H!t Musical. Earnings from the silent auction and raffles benefited the arts and culture program at Macomb Community College.

Urbanum Grand Opening 2018

On Oct. 24, Detroit-based home retailer Urbanum held their grand opening, housewarming celebration at their Woodward Avenue location. Sales from the event benefited Humble Design, a nonprofit that supports families that are relocating from homeless shelters to homes by providing furnishing, as well as design services.

Judson Center Rewind Gala 2018

On Nov. 3, Judson Center held their Rewind Gala at the MGM Grand Detroit. Guests were encouraged to wear 1980s, “Dynasty” inspired cocktail attire, and were treated to a full-course dinner, and live and silent auctions. Proceeds from the event benefited the organization’s mission to provide fuller futures for children that have autism or special needs and have been neglected or abused.

Motown Magic Fundraiser 2018

Senior and Caregiver Resource Network (SACRN) hosted their Motown Magic charity event on Oct. 27, at Fairlane Club in Dearborn. Attendees enjoyed a gourmet dinner, complimentary cocktails, and music provided by tribute band Motown Magic. An award ceremony was held to honor the organization’s notable community members, and proceeds benefited Jewish Family Service’s mission to strengthen lives through compassionate service inspired by the wisdom and values of Jewish tradition.

Wish Ball 2018

On Oct. 26, Make-A-Wish held their Where Wishes Set Sail Ball at the Detroit Marriott’s Renaissance Center. Award-winning Fox News anchor and host of the event, Sandra Ali, introduced comedian Jay Leno, who performed stand-up bits while guests indulged in a full-course dinner and open bar. Entertainment by the Bluewater Kings Band was followed after the live and silent auctions, which raised funds to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Rugiero Casino Royale 2018

Rugiero Promise Foundations’ Rugiero Casino Royale took place at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center on Oct. 27th. Guests were treated to a strolling supper and open bar, live entertainment, and a selection of casino games equipped with authentic tables and professional dealers. Biddings from the event’s live and silent auction went to the foundation’s efforts to fund research for a cure for diabetes.

Celebrity Cruises’ Grand Red Affair 2018

Celebrity Cruises’ Grand Red Affair is the ultimate high-end tasting event featuring premium red wines from leading local and national vineyards. The event took place on Thursday, August 9 at the Polk Penguin Conservation Center and the Wildlife Interpretive Gallery at the Detroit Zoo for an elegant evening sampling the finest wines from dozens of vendors. Guests enjoyed gourmet food, chocolate, cheese, and coffee pairings along with live entertainment. A silent auction including one of a kind artwork by local Detroit artists benefitted the Give Detroit Charity Challenge.

Savor Food & Wine Fest 2018

On Aug. 10 & 11, Hour Detroit held its Savor Food & Wine Festival at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak. Guests enjoyed various wine and craft cocktail tastings, as well as food from various Michigan vendors while viewing the zoo's award-winning habitats. The 2-day culinary extravaganza showcased the best wineries, breweries, distilleries, restaurants, and food purveyors. A portion of the proceeds benefited the Detroit Zoological Society in its mission to support and save wildlife.

The five-night series featured custom menus developed by the city’s most celebrated chefs for one-of-a-kind four-course meals complete with thoughtfully selected wine pairings. Guests also enjoyed unique art installations for the ultimate culinary experience. Friday’s meal was prepared by Chef Doug Hewitt of Chartreuse Kitchen and Cocktails and Chef Christopher Johnson of The Meeting House. A portion of the proceeds benefited dozens of local charities.

Harvest for Health 2018

Because She’s a Lady hosted their Harvest for Health luncheon at the Detroit Yacht Club on Oct. 7th. Attendees enjoyed live entertainment and raised funds for the organization to continue providing mastectomies and other related services for uninsured and underinsured women with special-needs. Donations also provide mammary support garments to adult and adolescent females with extended bust sizes.

Bourbon and Blue Jeans 2018

On Oct. 4, Infinity & Ovation Yacht Charters held its inaugural Bourbon & Blue Jeans summer cruise. Guests rode along the Detroit River, sipped on featured bourbons, snacked on an array of Southern Comfort dishes and danced to the sounds of the Trilogy Band. Proceeds of the cruise benefited U CAN-CER VIVE, a charity that supports funding for cancer research in Michigan and provides financial assistance to patients.

Detroit Pop-Up Event 2018

On Oct. 18th, the Detroit Foundation Hotel hosted the very first Detroit Pop Up Event, a strolling fashion show featuring the new fall collections from local brands and retailers including Wingme Cosmetics, Anuja Tolia Jewelery, and many more. Models styled by Lala Trips walked the runway, while guests enjoyed vegan treats and cocktails. Twenty percent of all proceeds were donated to local charity Alternatives for Girls.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2018

On Oct. 13, the American Cancer Society held its Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Detroit walk at Hart Plaza in Detroit. Participants included breast cancer survivors and their caregivers, and others hoping to find a cure for the disease. After walking the 5k, attendees enjoyed live music, juice samples from Beyond Juice, and more fun activities. Proceeds benefited the American Cancer Society, raising money for breast cancer research, support, and detection.

On Oct. 11, Detroit Garment Group held its annual one-day conference, FashionSpeak at the One Woodward building in Detroit. Attendees enjoyed continental breakfast and lunch, fashion-focused workshops, and more. On Oct. 4, Cure Multiple Myeloma Corp. held its annual Wine & Dine in the D event on the fourth floor of the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit. Attendees were also invited to take part in an informative, hour-long discussion about multiple myeloma with medical experts. Proceeds from the eighth annual Wine & Dine event benefited metro Detroit's myeloma community as well as the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in its efforts to find treatment for the disease.

Dancing with the Survivors 2018

On Oct. 5, The Pink Fund hosted its Dancing with the Survivors event at the Silver Garden Events Center in Southfield. The event paired local breast cancer survivors with professional dancers from Astaire Dance Studios, teaching and performing ballroom-style dances. Guests of the fundraising event enjoyed ballroom dances, cocktails, dinner, and more. Proceeds benefited The Pink Fund in its mission to assist local breast cancer patients in active treatment.

Detroit Uncorked 2018

On Oct. 5, the Detroit Wine Organization and Kroger held its annual Detroit Uncorked event at Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan in Detroit. Attendees enjoyed sampling over 300 wines from Michigan and other countries, eating food from over 20 local restaurants, live entertainment, and more. Proceeds from the 14th annual premier wine tasting benefited Gleaners Community Food Bank.
