DYC in the D 2018

On May 4, The Detroit Yacht Club held its sixth annual spring "DYC in the D" fundraising gala at the Detroit Yacht Club's Grand Ballroom in Detroit. The restoration gala featured a gourmet strolling dinner, a premium open bar, and performances by the K.E.G. Band. Proceeds from the event benefited the continued restoration and preservation of the historic site.

A Night of Broadway Stars 2018

On May 10, Covenant House Michigan held its annual Night of Broadway Stars event at Motor City SoundBoard Theater in Detroit. Proceeds from the fundraiser benefited JDRF in its research to cure diabetes.

On May 5, the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation held its second annual Derby for Kids at the Country Club of Detroit in Grosse Pointe Farms. Guests enjoyed strolling dinner and desserts, mint juleps and margaritas, live coverage of the Kentucky Derby, and more. Proceeds for the event benefited pediatric cancer programs at the Children's Hospital.

The five-night series featured custom menus developed by the city's most celebrated chefs for one-of-a-kind four-course meals complete with thoughtfully selected wine pairings. Guests also enjoyed unique art installations for the ultimate culinary experience. Friday's meal was prepared by Chef Matt McGrail of Cork and Gabel and Chef Edward Sura of Uchiko. A portion of the proceeds benefited dozens of local charities participating in the Give Detroit Challenge.

NASA Goddard Astrophysicist Researcher, Dr. John Mather was featured as the keynote speaker, enlightening attendees about the latest James Webb Space Telescope. On April 23, Fostering Academics Mentoring Excellence Program hosted The Power of One: Challenging Perceptions and Changing Lives event at Michigan State's College of Law in East Lansing. A collaboration with Chance at Childhood, Art & Soul Dreams, and MSU College of Law, the event featured a panel and MSU alumni who have had experiences with foster care. A keynote address was made by Shenandoah Chefalo, an author, speaker, and advocate for child welfare. Art & Soul Dreams also opened their new art exhibit in celebration of National Foster Care Month.

Cranbrook Academy Studio 2018

On April 28, Cranbrook Academy of Art and Art Museum held its annual charitable studio event on its campus in Bloomfield Hills. The art-filled event invited guests to browse the private studio spaces and interact with students participating in the 2018 Graduate Degree Exhibition. Attendees also enjoyed dinner and an after party. Proceeds from the event benefited Cranbrook's scholarship funds and the museum.

Detroit Zoo Wildlife Conservation Gala 2018

On April 27, the Detroit Zoological Society held its 2nd annual Wildlife Conservation Gala at the Wildlife Interpretive Gallery inside the Detroit Zoo. Over 120 guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and a sit-down dinner. Themed "Standing Up to Extinction," the gala featured a presentation of the zoo's efforts to save species from extinction. The event raised over $69,000 for the DZS's wildlife conservation programs.
