Capuchin Souper Summer Celebration

Wolverine Human Services 30th Anniversary Awards

On March 31, the Wolverine Human Services celebrated its 30th Anniversary Awards and Scholarship Banquet at the Detroit Athletic Club. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour and seated dinner before the ceremony honoring founder Robert Wollack. Wolverine Human Services is the only child-welfare agency in the state of Michigan that provides a full continuum of care, with over 450 youth residing in its facilities on a daily basis.

Restaurant of the Year Party 2017

On March 27, Hour Detroit magazine held a special celebration at Bistro 82, the Royal Oak establishment that won the Restaurant of the Year distinction for 2017.

Cirque 2017

On March 25, the Founders Junior Council for the DIA celebrated its annual masquerade event at the DIA, Cirque. During the sold-out, formal event, guests enjoyed a mythological-themed drinks and dancing, pulling inspiration from from all over the world. Proceeds benefited the DIA.

NEXTGen Detroit 2017

On March 4, the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit hosted its 2017 NEXTGen Detroit Epic event at the Fillmore in Detroit. Guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and standup comedy from Curb Your Enthusiasm’s JB Smooth. Proceeds benefited the organization and the needs of the Jewish people, building a vibrant future in Detroit.

Eton Academy Gala 2017

On March 4, Eton Academy hosted its largest fundraising gala of the year, Mission: Possible, at the school in Birmingham. Guests enjoyed a formal sit down dinner catered by Bacco Ristorante, silent and live auctions, and more. Proceeds benefitted the academy, ensuring students with learning differences have the right environment and tools to succeed and thrive.

McLaren Hospital Crystal Ball 2017

On March 11, McLaren Hospital celebrated its annual Crystal Ball at MGM Grand Detroit to benefit its Macomb Emergency and Trauma Services. Guests enjoyed a black-tie gourmet dinner, cocktail reception, a live auction and raffle, and thrilling entertainment from the Detroit Circus. In addition to the activities, special tributes were dedicated Daisy Award nurses and seasoned physicians.

Empty Bowls 2017

On March 3, Cass Community Social Services hosted its annual Empty Bowls event at Eastern Market in Shed 5. The event, which raised awareness and funds for the organization's food program, featured live entertainment and local celebrities serving soup. Guests could also bid on custom-painted bowls created by celebrities such as rapper Big Sean. Cass Community Social Services serves one million hungry people every year, and provides those in need with basic living necessities, housing, job training and healthcare.

Taken Over Film Premiere 2017

On Feb 26, Painted Creek Productions presented the Taken Over movie premiere event at the Emagine Royal Oak Theatre. With over 400 people in attendance, the evening was called the largest local red carpet premiere of the year in the Michigan film industry. Among guests were actors Dennis Haskins from Saved by the Bell and TJ Storm from Dead Pool.

Evening of Espionage 2017

On Feb 25, Our Lady Star of the Sea School in Grosse Pointe held its annual fundraising auction at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. Guests enjoyed a strolling dinner and drinks while participating in live and silent auctions during the James Bond-themed event. All proceeds benefitted the school and quality education for all its students.

Pajama Rama 2017

On Feb 19, a team of people currently participating in a gratitude training program called Masterful Living held a night of art, music and inspirational speaking at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. The goal of the night was to inspire the youth to help their community, while optionally dressing in pajamas! The proceeds from this event benefitted both Covenant House Michigan and the Ruth Ellis Center, who both aid at-risk, poor and homeless teens in the greater Detroit area.

An Affair to Remember: On the Red Carpet 2017

On Feb 11, Rackam Choir, Detroit's oldest choir, hosted its annual fundraiser at the Mirage in Clinton Township. With a red carpet theme, guests enjoyed a strolling dinner, live music, living statues, an illusionist, and more. Proceeds benefitted the Rackham Choir and its educational opportunities for students.

Lighthouse PATH 25th Anniversary

On Feb. 10, Lighthouse of Oakland Country celebrated the 25th anniversary of PATH, the area’s only long-term transitional housing program, at the Birmingham Community House. Guests enjoyed dinner, powerful client stories, dueling pianos, and more. Including the PATH program, Lighthouse serves more than 16,000 people annually, 40 percent of which are children.

Washtenaw Community College Mardi Gras 2017

On Feb. 4, the Washtenaw Community College Foundation held its 32nd annual Mardi Gras celebration inside the Morris Lawrence building on its Ann Arbor campus. Guests enjoyed a Wizard of Oz themed dinner from the college’s culinary students and regional guest chefs. Proceeds benefitted the foundation, which supports students and faculty with financial and educational tools to succeed.

COTS Soup City 2017

On Jan. 26, the Coalition on Temporary Shelter (COTS) celebrated its 18th annual Soup City event at the Gem & Century Theatre in Detroit. Guests enjoyed live entertainment from Les Williams, Zydeco Hepcats, and the Jerry Ross Band, and food from more than 20 local restaurants. Proceeds benefitted the nonprofit, which provides coaching and mentorship services to help people defeat homelessness and gain independence.

Bates Street Gala 2017

On Jan. 28, the Bates Street Society celebrated their charitable members at the Community House in Birmingham. During the black-tie event, guests enjoyed a three-course dinner, drinks, and live entertainment. The society was founded in 2015 to help recognize donors who make significant charitable contributions to support the work and mission of the Community House in Birmingham.

Big Shots, Little Stars 2017

On Jan. 13, MGM Grand Casino in Detroit hosted the 2017 Big Shots, Little Stars AfterGlow event. Guests enjoyed a complimentary shuttle to and from Cobo Center, dinner, cocktails, live music, and more. The event benefitted the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation, which works to improve the health quality of Michigan children.

Bocce with the Brothers 2017

The 5th annual Bocce with the Brothers took place on Friday, Jan. 20 at Villa Penna in Sterling Heights. Guests enjoyed an unlimited buffet, live music, and bocce ball games. All proceeds benefitted the Capuchin ministries, which uses the teaching of St. Francis of Assisi to help those in need, including the poor.

Auto Glow 2017

On Jan. 13, Ford Field hosted the 2017 AutoGlow charity event to support The Children's Center. Guests enjoyed a Monopoly-themed night of dinner, drinks and dancing, all while supporting the Detroit-based charity. Since its founding in 1929, The Children's Center works with children who've experienced trauma or struggled with developmental challenges.

NAIAS Charity Preview 2017

On Jan. 13 at Cobo Center, guests enjoyed a first look at North American International Auto Show at the Charity Preview. The black-tie event raised nearly $5.2 million, benefitting a wide range of children’s charities, such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan. The glitzy fundraiser, touted as the largest in the world, has raised more than $110 million for southeast Michigan children's charities since the gala was established years ago.

Detroit neighborhood human service organization Franklin Wright Settlements hosted its annual Spirit of Giving Awards Gala at the Belle Isle Casino on Dec. 10. Guests posthumously honored Judith D. Jackson and Dr. Gerald Smith for their "outstanding commitment to excellence, innovation, and community service." The evening included dinner, an energetic musical performance by Alexander Zonjic & Friends, and more. For more than 130 years, FWS has been aiding the Detroit community with its self-help strategies, programs, and opportunities.

Annual Holiday Tea 2016

The 28th Annual Holiday Tea to support Alternatives for Girls, a Detroit-based organization that aims to help homeless and high-risk girls and young women, was held on Dec. 2 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. The event featured networking and a silent auction of new and gently used items brought by guests.

Kidney Ball 2016

More than 740 people attended the 2016 Kidney Ball on Dec. 3 at MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit. The event, which raised $617,000 for the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, featured live and silent auctions, cuisine prepared by MotorCity Casino Hotel Executive Chef Raymond Bertschy, and live music by the band Your Generation in Concert featuring Fifty Amp Fuse.

Jazzy Holiday Tea

Jazzy Holiday Tea, a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit, was held Dec. 3 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. Guests enjoyed a traditional tea and fashion show of women's tops, jewelry, and scarves, as well as music by the jazz duo Mike and Mike.

St. Joseph Mercy's 41st Annual Holiday Ball

St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor held its 41st Annual Holiday Ball, The Enchanted Voyage Aboard the Queen Mary, on Dec. 3 at Eastern Michigan University. The event, which benefited the Behavioral Health Services at St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor, featured dinner catered by Forte Belanger, music by Intrigue, and a performance by Dancers Workshop.

2016 Capuchin School Night Out

The Second Annual Capuchin School Night Out was held Dec. 8 at Brew Detroit. The event, which was geared toward young adults, benefited the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and featured hors d'oeuvres, drinks, music, and a brewery tour.

2016 Detroit Historical Society Holiday Ball

The 2016 Detroit Historical Society Holiday Ball was held on Dec. 10 at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. The event aimed to bring together the metro Detroit community for a celebration of the region’s history while bidding farewell to the Joe in its final season. Champagne Wishes

Birmingham-based restaurant Forest held a Champagne Wishes brunch on Dec. 10 to benefit both Wish Upon a Teen and LUNGevity. Wish Upon a Teen provides creative programs and opportunities to teenagers battling life-limiting medical conditions such as cancer, sickle cell, and organ transplants, while LUNGevity's mission is to increase the quality of live and survivorship of people with lung cancer.

On Dec. 2, Easterseals Michigan held their largest annual fundraiser, the Cheers Gala, at the World Heritage Air Museum in Waterford. Guests enjoyed a strolling dinner, live entertainment, games, and a performance from their new dance program, the ESM Miracle Dancers. Proceeds benefited the organization, which serves and supports people with disabilities or special needs and their families so they can successfully live, learn, work, and play in their communities.

Advent Evening of Fellowship 2016

held their annual Advent Evening of Fellowship at the Detroit Athletic Club. The black tie event featured guest speaker Ken Katz, conservation and restoration artist. Katz and his team were hired to repair water damage to the ceiling of the main dining room of the Albert Kahn-designed Detroit Athletic Club, eventually leading to a restoration of the paintings hidden beneath layers of old paint. The evening benefitted the chapter's mission of to raising funds to maintain and restore the vast collection of art housed in the Vatican Museums.

The Taste 2016

On Nov. 19, Our Lady Star of the Sea hosted the 5th annual Taste event in Grosse Pointe Woods. The evening featured fine wine and food samplings from 24 exclusive vendors and live entertainment from the Chris Codish Jazz Trio. Proceeds benefited the parish.

Hob Nobble Gobble 2016

On Nov. 18, the Parade Company celebrated its 27th annual Hob Nobble Gobble, presented by Ford Motor Co. at Ford Field in Detroit. The event welcomed more than 2,000 special guests in honor of America's Thanksgiving Parade. The evening featured carnival rides, games, a performance from award winning hip hop artist Flo Rida, and more.

Nutcracker Luncheon & Boutique 2016

On Nov. 15, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Volunteer Council held the 34th annual Nutcracker Luncheon and Boutique at the Detroit Athletic Club in Detroit. Guests enjoyed an elegant luncheon, raffles, shopping from a collection of vendors, and more. Proceeds benefited the organization, which is an active partner of the DSO in fundraising, audience and membership expansion, youth music education, and volunteer service.

JARC Fall Fundraiser 2016

On Nov. 14, JARC brought the Music of Michael Jackson featuring The Detroit Symphony Orchestra to the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Orchestra Hall in Detroit, for their annual fall fundraiser. Guests of the pre-glow enjoyed a strolling dinner and cocktails before the iconic show. Proceeds benefited JARC, which aims to enrich the lives of people with disabilities through gentle and loving support, valued relationships, and engagement with the community, in accordance with Jewish values.

Casino Royale 2016

On Nov. 12, the the Rugiero Promise Foundation and University of Michigan Diabetes Center held the 6th annual Casino Royale fundraiser at the Edward Hotel and Convention Center in Dearborn. The event honored the memory of Antonio Rugiero who lived with type 2 diabetes for nearly 40 years. Guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner, live entertainment, games, and more. Proceeds benefited the Antonio Rugiero Diabetes Research Fund at the U of M Diabetes Research Center, with the goal of reversing the course of the disease to save lives.

On Nov. 11, Christ Child held its annual fundraiser, Night of Angels, at the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market. Proceeds benefited the organization, which offers assistance and programming for underprivileged children in the Detroit, including a residential treatment home for neglected and abused boys.

A Beautiful Me Avant Garde Hair Show 2016

On Nov. 6, A Beautiful Me held its 6th annual Avant Garde Hair Show fundraiser at Zuccaro’s Banquet Center in Chesterfield. The one-of-a-kind event featured everyday women walking the runway, ranging in age, weight, and ethnicity, and confidently adorning elaborate hairstyles. Proceeds benefitted the organization, helping provide local girls the opportunity to attend interactive after-school self-esteem workshops that build self-worth proactively in the next generation of women.

Superhero Soiree 2016

On Nov. 5, Kids on the Go held its Superhero Soiree at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. Emceed by Brandon Roux of WDIV, the evening included a a strolling dinner, tastings, silent and live auctions, and entertainment by the Ben Sharkey Quartet and speed artist Dave Santia. Proceeds benefited children with special needs ages 3-14, providing free summer therapy.

Wishes Gala 2016

On Nov. 4, the House of Providence held its annual Wishes Gala at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester. The evening, hosted by Chuck Gaidica, featured strolling hors d’oeuvres, an elegant dinner, and more. Proceeds benefited the Providence House, a therapeutic home which welcomes children and youth who have been the victim of extreme abuse and neglect, and offers them a healing environment.

On Oct. 27, Dutton Farm held it's 4th annual fashion show at the Woodside Bible Church in Lake Orion. Dutton's farmers strutted the catwalk in the latest trends, and guests enjoyed a silent auction, coffee, and desserts. All proceeds benefited the non-profit, which serves individuals with mental, physical, and emotional impairments through an array of activities that foster self-belief and satisfaction.

On Oct. 21, Capuchin Soup Kitchen held its 44th annual SOCK (Support Our Capuchin Kitchen) dinner at the Cobo Center Grand Riverview Ballroom in Detroit. The evening was highlighted by a cocktail reception, dinner, and entertainment, as well as the new “Second Helping” afterglow, featuring drinks, a dessert bar, a coffee station, and more. Proceeds benefited the organization which serves Metro Detroit by providing food, clothing, and human development programs to those in need.

Chairs For Charity 2016

On Nov. 3, the first annual Chairs for Charity fundraiser showcased the talent of the local art and design community at the Garden Theater in Detroit. During the unique pop-up gallery of extraordinary chair installations, attendees sipped cocktails, enjoyed gourmet bites, and bid on beautiful works of art to raise funds for dozens of local charities participating in the Give Detroit Challenge.

Harvest Moon Ball 2016

On Oct. 21, Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital hosted the 9th annual Harvest Moon Ball at the MGM Grand Detroit Hotel. The evening celebrated the 90th anniversary of providing healthcare services to the Downriver community, featuring cocktails, dinner, live entertainment, and more. Art of Wine 2016

On Oct.15, the College for Creative Studies hosted Art of Wine, the 35th Annual Detroit International Wine Auction, at Capitol Park in Detroit. The auctioned benefited undergraduate scholarships and free art programs for kids in Detroit.

On Oct. 14, St. Mary Mercy Livonia Hospital held its 24th annual fundraising gala at the Laurel Manor Banquet and Conference Center. The elegant black tie event was themed after the Phantom of the Opera, and featured dinner, musical entertainment, and a silent auction. Proceeds benefited St. Mary Mercy Livonia's Community Health initiatives.

Bring it Home 2016

On Oct. 13, the Community Housing Network hosted its signature annual fundraising event, Bring it Home, at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. The evening included a silent auction, sit-down dinner, an open bar, and more. A portion of the proceeds benefited the Critical Needs Fund, which aims to help conquer barriers not solved by traditional housing programs.

Wright Gala 2016

On Oct. 8, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History celebrated 51 years of excellence with their 2016 gala themed, "Music on My Mind." Guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, dinner, dessert, dancing, and more during the music-infused celebration. Entertainers for the evening included two-time Emmy Award-winning violinist Damien Escobar, Detroit-based Collective Peace, featuring Grammy-nominated saxophonist, LaDarrel “Saxappeal” Johnson, and recording artist Mike Ellison.

Dancing with the Survivors 2016

On Oct. 8, the Pink Fund brought its national tour, Dancing with the Survivors, to Detroit, celebrating a nationwide community of breast cancer survivors who thrive in their recovery. The evening was highlighted by food, music, cocktails, and of course, dancing. The event featured breast cancer survivors paired with professional dancers from dance studios across the country, performing ballroom style dances, while raising money for The Pink Fund’s mission.

Autumn Adventure 2016

On Oct. 7, the Oakland County Children's Village Foundation held its 29th annual Autumn Adventure at the Orchard Lake Country Club. Guests enjoyed strolling heavy appetizers, an open wine and beer bar, silent and live auctions, live music, and more. Proceeds benefited the foundation, which provides residential care and comprehensive treatment services for in-need youth and their families.

SPARK 2016

On Oct. 13, the Detroit Garment Group hosted its annual fashion fete at the One Woodward in Detroit. For this year’s event themed, “the Future of Fashion," guests were encouraged to dress in futuristic and fashionable outfits. The evening included cocktails, light bites, and a curated-fashion exhibit from local designers including DJ Thornstryker, the NBA's first female DJ. Proceeds benefited DGD, which was founded as a response to the need for business education for Michigan's fashion community.

Fridays's meal was prepared by Chef Brad Greenhill of Katoi in Detroit, and Chef Takashi Yagihashi of Slurping Turtle in Ann Arbor. A portion of the proceeds benefited Eastern Market, which since the 1800s has gradually become a cornerstone, nourishing its residents by providing fresh and nutritious food throughout Southeastern Michigan.

Hour Detroit's Best Dressed Celebration 2016

On Sept. 29, Hour Detroit magazine hosted its annual Best Dressed fashion show and party at the Fillmore in Detroit, featuring our best dressed winners from the September issue. Attendees sipped cocktails and savored delicious light bites. The elaborate fashion show was presented by Somerset Collection and accompanied by the music of percussionist Jared Sykes.

BRAvo 2016

On Oct. 4, McClaren Macomb hosted the 6th annual BRAvo event at Penna's of Sterling Heights. A thousand attendees enjoyed bidding on bras decorated by community members and donated by local businesses. Proceeds from the event benefitted the BRAvo program, which not only provides free mammograms for uninsured women, but now includes all women’s health initiatives.

Dress the Decades Cruise 2016

On Sept. 28 Infinity and Ovation Yacht Charters held its Dress the Decades cruise as a part of its summer cruise series. Guests enjoyed throwback cocktails, culinary favorites with a nostalgic twist, and groovy beats from Boogie Dynomite. A portion of the proceeds benefited the Michigan Humane Society, the largest and oldest animal welfare organization in Michigan.

DiChiera Legacy Ball 2016

On Oct. 1, the Detroit Opera House hosted Black Tie & Bellinis: The DiChiera Legacy Ball. Hundreds of guests celebrated Dr. David DiChiera, the founder and director of Michigan Opera Theatre, with hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and dancing. Music by Ben Sharkey and the Big Band and a performance by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet accompanied the Opera Company’s largest fundraiser of the season.

Wild Game Dinner 2016

On Sept. 22, Meadow Brook Hall hosted its 11th Annual Gourmet Wild Game Dinner and Auction fundraiser on their grounds in Rochester. Guests enjoyed live and silent auctions, raffles, hors d’oeuvres, a seated dinner, and more. Proceeds benefitted the interpretation and preservation of Meadow Brook, a National Historic Landmark.

Wigs 4 Kids Gala 2016

On Sept. 16, Wigs 4 Kids hosted its 13th annual gala at the The Sterling Inn and Wyndham Gardens in Sterling Heights. The signature event is the organization's largest of the year. Guests enjoyed dinner, dancing, entertainment, raffle prizes, and more. The fundraiser benefited the nonprofit, helping provide wigs and support services to Michigan children experiencing hair loss as a result of illness and treatment.

Great Hearts Gala 2016

On June 10, Starfish Family Services held its 5th annual Great Hearts Gala at Eastern Market in Detroit. Guests enjoyed live music, dinner, and dancing. Proceeds benefited the launch of Starfish University, which provides parents with educational opportunities designed to strengthen families and empower parents to serve as their child’s best teacher, role model, and advocate.

Toasting Hope 2016

On Sept. 22, more than 300 attendees attended the Toasting Hope tasting event at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. Guests enjoyed beer, wine, spirits, and coffee from sponsors, as well as a custom food pairings. The evening also included silent and live auctions, and live entertainment from the band Kroon. Proceeds benefited the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan, which is leading the fight to stop seizures by working with those with Epilepsy to better manage this neurological condition and supporting research to develop new treatments and eventually find a cure.

Cattle Barons Ball 2016

On Sept. 24, the American Cancer Society's annual western-themed gala, The Cattle Baron's Ball, returned for another evening envisioning a cancer free world. Attendees looked towards "hope on the range" while pairing denim with cowboy boots at Cobo Hall. The celebration has helped raise more than $14.1 for the ACS since its debut.

Manresa Gala 2016

On Sept. 24, the Manresa Jesuit Retreat House hosted the 13th Annual Spirit of Manresa Gala. Attendees honored Father Leo Cachat, SJ as he celebrated his 50th jubilee of priestly ordination. The event also commemorated Manresa's 90th year pursuing its mission to help parishioners grow spiritually during retreats.

Henry Ford Wine Showcase 2016

On Sept. 16, the Ambassador Club of Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals presented the 2016 Wine Showcase at Penna's of Sterling Heights. The exclusive wine tasting featured select samples, a strolling dinner, live entertainment, and more. Proceeds from the event benefited HFMH's surgical services expansion.

Gold Rush Gala 2016

On Sept. 9, Camp Casey held the Gold Rush Gala at Roostertail in Detroit, celebrating a year of accomplishments. Guests were encouraged to wear gold in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness month. The evening featured drinks, hor d'oeuvres, live entertainment, a silent auction and more. All proceeds benefitted Camp Casey, a nonprofit horseback riding program for children with cancer and rare blood disorders.

The event featured a strolling dinner with cuisine from 24 of Detroit's top restaurants and live entertainment from the Ursula Walker/Buddy Budson Quintet. Proceeds benefited the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

On Sept. 16, the Cranbrook Art Museum hosted the Summer of Love Garden Party on their grounds in Bloomfield Hills. The evening was based off of the wildly popular exhibition,“Hippie Modernism: The Struggle for Utopia,” featuring psychedelic music, munchies, and drinks. Proceeds benefited the museum’s exhibitions and educational programs.

On Sept. 16, the New Day Foundation for Families hosted the Hope Shines, An Evening Under the Stars gala at Eastern Market in Detroit. On Sept. 16, Forgotten Harvest hosted its 3rd annual Women's Harvest Lunch in Eastern Market. Women from all over metro Detroit came together to make a difference while learning about the organization firsthand. Proceeds benefited the operations of the Forgotten Harvest Farm in Fenton, which provides more than 600,000 pounds of fresh, nutritious vegetables for metro Detroit’s hungry children and families.

Team Fox in the D 2016

On Sept. 10, Team Fox in the D, a fundraising arm of The Michael J. Fox Foundation, held a gala at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. The evening featured a panel on Parkinson's research, dinner, music, and dancing. Proceeds benefited the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which has raised more than $600 million to speed a cure for Parkinson’s since 2000.

On Sept. 9. Crossroads of Michigan held its annual gala, Heart of Cross Roads: Harvesting Hope in the Motor City, at the Detroit Opera House Sky Deck. Eero Saarinen: The Architect Who Saw the Future World Premiere

On Sept. 9, the Cranbrook Art Museum hosted the sold out world premiere of the American Masters film, Eero Saarinen: The Architect Who Saw the Future. The red carpet event benefited Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research. The Cranbrook Archives also provided many of the photos and clips from the Saarinen family films used in the production. An afterglow including with food, drink, and music by Nuclassica followed the film.

Stepping out with the Stars 2016

On Sept. 9, the Arthur Murray Sterling Heights Dance Studio presented the second annual Stepping Out with the Stars event to benefit Turning Point Macomb at Zuccaro’s in Chesterfield. Based off of the hit ABC program, celebrity dancers included television and film personality Kim Adams, and Lory Luciano Klinger of Luciano’s Restaurant, among others. Turning Point Macomb provides emergency support and prevention services for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Racing for Kids 2016

On Aug. 31, the 10th annual Racing For Kids to the Hill event was held as a street fair on Kercheval Avenue in Grosse Pointe Farms. The fair was followed by a cocktail reception and live luxury auction at Northern Trust. The evening raised funds for the Racing For Kids hospital visit program and several local children’s hospitals.

Joe Kocur Celebrity Softball Game 2016

On Aug. 27, the Joe Kocur Foundation for Children held its 8th annual charity softball tournament at Duck Lake Pines Park in Highland, featuring celebrity players from the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association. This years players included Dylan Larkin, Danny DeKeyser, Darren Helm and Steve Ott, as well as Wings alumni Darren McCarty and Kris Draper. Proceeds benefited Wings of Mercy East Michigan, F.A.R. Therapeutic Arts and Recreation, the Huron Valley Special Olympics, Play Like Jackson Foundation, Team Kendal Kidz, and the Lakeland High School Shannon Gaber Silverthorn Public Service Scholarship.

Benefit on the Bay 2016

On Aug. 26, Capuchin Soup Kitchen held the 23rd annual Benefit on the Bay at MacRay Harbor on Lake St. Clair. Guests enjoyed appetizers, dinner, dancing, auctions, and more. Proceeds benefited the soup kitchen which provides food, clothing, and human development programs to those in need in metro Detroit.

Classic Shore Dinner 2016

On Aug. 25, the UAW-GM Spirit of Detroit Hydrofest hosted the Classic Shore Dinner in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Gold Cup Race in Detroit. Guests enjoyed cuisine from London Chop House, Wolfgang Puck, Andiamo, Huron Room, Bayview Yacht Club, Fishbones, and Sindbads. Proceeds benefited March of Dimes.

Havana Nights Cruise 2016

On Aug. 24, Infinity and Ovation Yacht Charters held its Havana Nights cruise as a part of its summer cruise series. Guests enjoyed a strolling dinner, premium open bar, and live music from Grupo Escobar.

Cruisin' View 2016

On Aug. 19, the Bank of Birmingham and FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation hosted the 6th annual Cruisin' View fund drive overlooking the Woodward Dream Cruise. Guests enjoyed food and drinks. Donations were matched by the Bank of Birmingham and benefited FAR, which provides quality therapeutic and recreational services to people with special needs.

Cruise for a Cause 2016

On Aug. 23, the 8th annual Cruise for a Cause was held aboard an Infinity Ovation Yacht, benefiting Detroit Central City. Guests enjoyed a strolling dinner, open bar, live entertainment, and more. DCC has served the community for 40 years as one of the area’s first non-profit mental health agencies.

Cruisin' to Drive Out Hunger 2016

On Aug. 19, Forgotten Harvest held the 14th annual Cruisin’ to Drive Out Hunger (formerly the Champagne Cruise) at Westborn Market in Berkley. Guests enjoyed delicious food from local restaurants, live entertainment, dancing, and more. Proceeds from the charity preview benefited Forgotten Harvest to help relieve hunger in Metro Detroit.

Senior Dream Cruise 2016

On Aug. 17, Jewish Senior Life held its annual Dream Cruise event on its Eugene & Marcia Applebaum Campus in West Bloomfield. Residents enjoyed some 80 classic cars that paraded between residences. Volunteers wore vintage attire like poodle skirts and played music from the 1950s.

Dolly Drive 2016

On Aug. 17, Vista Maria held its annual Dolly Drive at the BlackFinn Ameripub in Royal Oak. Guests were asked to bring a new doll or stuffed animal and enjoyed signature drinks and appetizers. The event raised funds and support for girls in foster care.

Art in the Garden 2016

On Aug. 13, painter Yiannis held a special exhibition of his artwork in Novi with special guest and HGTV star Hilary Farr. Guests enjoyed strolling appetizers, a live auction, and sparkling wine. Proceeds from the event benefited Planet Lori Art Camp, a program through the Lori Haber Buckfire Foundation designed for children who had or have a parent or a close relative with cancer.
