Essential Information

44175 W. 12 Mile Rd
Novi, MI

248-465-7777

The Novi location is a handsome and cavernous place with a universal modern look, and food that is, well, call it urban-Japanese with other Asian and Western influences. The modern décor is soothing and uncomplicated. Prices are mostly very modest, and service is crisp and friendly. Bouncy techno music accompanies you through the menu, which includes a good run of sushi, as well as a more traditional list for first courses, main dishes, and salads. In the firsts, the Shrimp Gyoza is a must: delicate, lightly steamed fried dumplings, and minced shrimp stuffing with spicy dipping sauce of garlic, soy, and ponzu. Also worth trying is Toco Sunomono, a fresh steamed octopus served with Japanese cucumber and sea kelp. In main dishes, try the tangy, hot spicy udon beef soup or the tonkatsu, crisp breaded pork cutlets that cut like warm butter. Overall, a pleasant and soothing day-to-day place to eat. L & D daily.
