Owner/chef Craig Common has been toiling away to great effect in hinterland quarters on Main Street, smack in the middle of Chelsea, for more than a dec­ade. The fact that his work has drawn the admiring attention of no less than Gourmet magazine and the James Beard House puts Common on a level with those two other nationally known products of Chelsea — Jeff Daniels and Jiffy Mix. Enjoy the blazing-red appetizer of “firecracker” shrimp with gingery Hong Kong salsa or broiled “peekytoe” crab cakes with mild red chili mayo; ahi tuna salad Niçoise in a roasted lemon basil vinaigrette, a New York steak with peppercorn but­ter and Merlot reduction, or grilled beef tenderloin with a side of buttermilk-batter fried onion rings.
