An evening at this lively spot is more than just Cuban and Spanish dining. The room is built around the dance floor and flanked by short palm trees. Four support pillars stand at each corner, washed in a sea-green fluorescent light. Where the food succeeds is in the highly accented flavors of individual dishes like the outstanding Tapa de la Casa, pork leg marinated in mojo and pan-fried; the Croquetas, a chopped mixture of chicken and ham in a creamy sauce rolled in a coating of bread-crumbs and fried; and the Tamal Cubano, a savory Cuban corn tamale made with chopped pork, served with sauted onions and mojo.
