Presented by Delta Air Lines, AIDS Walk Detroit 2017 will be hosted the morning of Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Royal Oak Farmers Market to raise funds and awareness to end HIV/AIDS in metro Detroit. The 5k walk goes through downtown Royal Oak and surrounding neighborhoods. The event features reflections on the impact of HIV/AIDS with the largest Michigan display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, a celebration of life honoring community members who are living with the virus today and hope for a future without HIV. Since 1991, AIDS Walk Detroit has become the largest grassroots HIV/AIDS fundraising organization in Michigan and has granted almost $4 million to more than 25 different agencies. Its mission is to provide financial support for programs in HIV prevention and education and services for HIV-positive individuals.
