Build, Play, Learn, and Grow with Campville USA at The War Memorial Summertime mini-camps for kids, teens, and college students offer diverse and exciting experiences As summer quickly approaches, The War Memorial is pleased to announce the return of Campville USA, a series of mini-camps for children aged 5+, teens, and college students. Campville USA begins on June 19 and runs through August 11; each camp has its own schedule, ranging from one-day to one-week engagements. Campville USA is made possible by generous donations from The Stonisch Foundation and The Youth Enrichment Fund. Boasting over 30 individual camps, Campville USA offers a full spectrum of activities, ranging from robotics to musical theater, cooking to writing, and sculpture to self-defense. The diverse programming is sure to appeal to the varied interests of children and teens, and several camps are offered at multiple times throughout the summer, ensuring that no one will miss out due to vacation plans. New this year is a series of two-day camps aimed at high school and college students, taught by professional writer and editor Sarah Sheppard. Sheppard, who is originally from Grosse Pointe but spent five years working for a nonfiction book publisher in Boston, will present four camps: Jumpstart Your Creativity, The Personal Essay, Short Fiction, and Reading Like a Writer. All Campville USA activities are held at The War Memorial, located at 32 Lake Shore Drive in Grosse Pointe Farms; a complete listing of camps and registration information is available online at www.warmemorial.org/campville, or by calling 313.881.7511.
