Empty Bowls Detroit returns to Eastern Market for an evening of celebration with live entertainment, wine/beer, and soups from 30 Detroit-area restaurants 5-10 p.m. Friday, March 9, to benefit Cass Community Social Services’ food program. Guests will take home a ceramic bowl as a reminder that someone’s bowl is always empty. Local celebrities will be on hand. The Empty Bowls auction of custom-made painted bowls by celebrities will also be on display. Tickets are $30 per person before Feb. 1; $40 after Feb. 1 and at the door. Soup, bread, cheese, dessert, and drink included in ticket price. Must be at least 21 years of age. Cass’ food program serves 1 million meals to hungry people in Detroit annually. The agency provides housing, health care, job training, and jobs to Detroiters who face considerable barriers to employment. More than 600 attended Empty Bowls Detroit last year.
