The seventh annual Men’s Health Event takes place 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Ford Field. This event is free for attendees regardless of whether they have insurance. For some, this is the only preventative health care that they receive and will use this event as their annual physical. Screenings include vital measurements; a blood test for prostate-specific antigen, testosterone, glucose, and cholesterol; BMI and body fat percentage assessments; mental health screenings; HIV/AIDS testing; skin cancer screenings; EKG testing; and vision, hearing, and dental examinations. The event also provides free flu shots, free haircuts, an opportunity to “Ask the Doctor” your health questions, fitness activities, guest speakers, and more. Men come away from this family-friendly event with a comprehensive health assessment and screenings and a better understanding of how to stay healthy.
