Please join the Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) for an extraordinary evening as we celebrate our second annual Wildlife Conservation Gala, presented by Ford Motor Company on Friday, April 27, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Themed “Standing up to Extinction”, the event will highlight the DZS’s global wildlife conservation efforts. Enjoy hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and a sit-down dinner in the iconic Wildlife Interpretive Gallery, as well as a brief presentation on the DZS’s worldwide work to save species from extinction. We will share fascinating stories about our current conservation efforts for red pandas in Nepal as well as our nearly 20 years of saving amphibians around the world and more. In addition, the 2018 recipient of the Nautilus Award will be announced. This award is given to an individual whose efforts have made a profound impact on the future of wildlife and embodies the DZS’s mission of Celebrating and Saving Wildlife. The evening will also feature a raffle with the chance to win “zoonique” prizes. In the last few years alone, the DZS has led and/or supported field conservation programs on six continents. These programs include assessing the status of snow leopards and red pandas in China and Nepal, conducting population studies of penguins in Antarctica and the Falkland Islands, rescuing and rehabilitating gorillas in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and rearing and releasing nearly extinct toads in the U.S. and abroad, among others. With so many species threatened or endangered around the world, the DZS is standing up to extinction. This is a 21-and-older event. Cocktail attire. All proceeds benefit the Detroit Zoological Society’s wildlife conservation programs. For more information, or to purchase a table or tickets, visit detroitzoo.org/events. Due to unforeseen circumstances, this event has been rescheduled to April 27.
