It’s not just the fiery green hot sauce or the authentic and well-prepared Mexican menu that brings people to this restaurant deep in the barrio far west of the touristy area. It’s also — and maybe this is the key — the caring and cheerful service that seems absolutely genuine whether or not the diners are speaking Spanish. The colorful two-room setting includes tables that easily accommodate big parties and the small bar turns out tequila drinks and Mexican beers to match the kitchen’s gorditas, terrific little open-face tacos, and carne de res a la parrilla, grilled steak, in efficient fashion.
