We've Got Mail...
Praise us or pan us, but just put it down in words. Bravos or boos, we want to hear from you.
We’ve Got Reach
Anyone who uses “reached out” in your magazine (or anywhere) should be fired (“Polishing a Greasy Spoon,” December 2014). How about “called” or “contacted?” Reach Out (And Touch Someone) was a 1970s phrase to sell long distance, and should be retired.
— Peggy Smith, Troy
“Déjà Food” (November 2014) brought back memories. Benno was a stickler for reservations. We saw him refuse to seat patrons who had no reservations, even though there were empty tables. His signature dessert, Omelet Stephanie, was to die for.
— Ronald M. Horwitz, Farmington Hills
Really enjoyed your story of Hudson’s in 1959 (“The Way It Was,” December 2014). Davis B. Hillmer (the photographer) was my great uncle, of whom my mom named me after. Great memories of talking with him.
— Davis B. Sabo
Missed the Cut?
I was surprised Sebastian Jackson of the Social Grooming Club didn’t make the list (“Well-Groomed Gents,” November 2014). Hour missed the mark.
— Tim Sullivan
Mixed on Merrill
My favorite restaurant in Birmingham (“Reviving a Classic,” December 2014).
— Robert Caffrey
// I found your “rave” review of the new 220 Merrill curious! I do not know a single person who loved this place that are happy with the redo. … Having tried it twice, I will never go back!
— Bonnie Parker
As a member of United Voices of Detroit, I had the honor of performing with the Detroit Medical Orchestra (“Laughing Lawyers, Medical Musicians,” November 2014). They are superb, and the brilliant direction of Elliott Moore is mesmerizing!
— Margo Easton, Wayne State University
Facebook comments about our December cover:
// Need those shoes! Super cute!
— Elizabeth Robbins Sabourin
// Wish you would have used a mutt. Hope he was at least a rescue dog!
