Dr. Frank Ruffino prides himself on being able to provide his patients with all the latest technological advances in dentistry. The latest addition to his practice is a 3-D panorex machine, which enables Dr. Ruffino to plan the placement of implants, find root fractures in teeth, and aid in identifying abnormal structures. Along with the 3-D imaging, he offers digital X-rays, CEREC same-day crowns, digital impressions, and Velscope oral cancer screenings.
Cosmetic treatment is one of Dr. Ruffino’s passions, whether it’s a single crown or a full-mouth reconstruction. “Patients today realize now more than ever that their teeth are very important not just for aesthetics, but for their overall health,” Dr. Ruffino says. Along with cosmetic treatment, Dr. Ruffino and his team offer root canal therapy, in-office Zoom teeth-whitening, dental implants, Invisalign for adults and teens, dentures, partials, and oral sedation.
Dental implants are a great way to replace single teeth or to secure ill-fitting partials or dentures. Dr. Ruffino has taken extensive implant courses, and has participated in live surgeries. In most cases, he’s able to place an implant the same day he removes the tooth, meaning there’s less time until the final restoration is complete.
Invisalign invisible braces are an excellent way to ensure your teeth are in proper alignment. Over time, teeth tend to shift, creating misalignment of the jaws and resulting in TMJ or TMD. TMJ or TMD cause pain in the joints, clicking and popping, misaligned jaws, inefficient and painful chewing, or the inability to chew. As long as there’s nothing wrong with the joint, wearing an Invisalign aligner is a great way to deprogram the muscles involved in grinding and relieve TMD symptoms. Teeth that are properly aligned are easier to floss and easier for the hygienist to clean, creating a reduced risk of decay and frequently eliminating the need for extensive dental treatment.
Dr. Ruffino has the means to treat every patient, from the most dentally educated to the most fearful. Treatments can be spaced out over several visits or completed in one visit, with the aid of oral sedation — an option for the overly anxious patient.
With oral sedation, the patient is in a completely relaxed state, but is still able to communicate. Oral sedation creates a dental amnesia, and the patient receives all their dental treatment in one or two visits, with little or no recollection of the procedure. Patients who have chosen this option have said it was the best way to complete treatment.
Dr. Ruffino, in practice for more than 20 years, is a graduate of Michigan State University who then excelled in the dentistry program at the University of Detroit Mercy. He has a calming chairside manner, and shows concern for each and every patient’s oral health.
Patients have a wide variety of options to choose from. “Just come in and take a look for yourself at what we can offer you and your family,” Dr. Ruffino says. “In one form or another, we’ll come up with treatment options that will work for you.”
