After hosting more than 1,500 cars last year, Monroe Street Drive-In is returning to downtown Detroit for a second season. The movie lineup for the opening week includes a showing of Space Jam on Nov. 12, Sing on Nov. 13, and F9 on Nov. 14.

The outdoor theater, presented by Bedrock Detroit and Emagine, features a 60×32-foot digital screen, a concessions pavilion, restrooms, a warming area, and space for 62 vehicles. New this year are nine outdoor seating pods — free of charge and available on a first-come, first-served basis, pods can fit two to four guests each — and artwork by Sheefy McFly. The artist, who painted murals for the Monroe Street Midway summer attraction, has designed a piece that will be displayed on the Campus Martius-facing side of the screen.

“Last winter’s Monroe Street Drive-In Powered by Emagine showed us that thousands of families across metro Detroit need more safe, approachable activities to enjoy in their downtown, especially during the colder months when we’ve all been cooped up for so long,” says Ivy Greaner, chief operating officer at Bedrock, in a press release. “The theater is back this year for its sequel, but this time we want to do even more. We hope that the addition of outdoor seating and local artwork will help make this season unforgettable for all the right reasons.”

The theater, located at 32 Monroe St. in Detroit, will host shows Thursday-Sunday evenings until the spring. Gates open at 6 p.m. and features start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 per vehicle and can be reserved online or purchased in-person at the drive-in before each show.
