Motor City Rumblers

You might say their favorite gear is reverse. These hot-rod groupies seek to resuscitate a car scene that nearly flatlined in the late ’80s. The Rumblers Car Club, founded in 1996 by Roger Miret, a vocalist for the punk/metalcore band Agnostic Front, claims members from Albuquerque, N.M., to Hamburg, Germany, to New York and, of course, Detroit. Last summer, local members gathered outside Midtown’s Majestic Theatre, where the cars were clearly part of a carefully cultivated persona.
