Brasserie Zinc

What is it about this place that makes it perennially popular season after season? Part of the answer is its consistency. There have been only two executive chefs since it opened five and a half years ago, and the menu stays true to the brasserie theme with such French- and Belgian-accented dishes as mussels and frites, escargot in garlic butter, baked onion soup, tarte citron, and the perpetual favorite, rustique salad. Zinc also ventures into a twist on an Italian classic with its signature lamb osso buco. On nights when other establishments are lonely, Zinc is populated until the kitchen closes at 1:30 a.m. 6745 Orchard Lake Rd., West Bloomfield Township; 248-865-0500. $18 Handicap-accessible
