Top Dentists 2010
About The List
There’s no question that we are living in turbulent times. Now, more than ever, our physical health can contribute to our overall outlook. We know that a smart, balanced diet and regular exercise are crucial to our well-being, but too often we overlook the importance of healthy teeth and gums.
Medical research has shown a direct correlation between the two.
Studies of postmenopausal women suggest that bone loss in the lower jaw may be related to the skeletal bone loss seen in osteoporosis. Another recent study points to an increased risk of heart disease and stroke in people with gum infections.
Finding a good dentist for ourselves and our family members is one of the most important decisions that we will ever make. With so many dentists to choose from in metro Detroit, how can you know which one is right for you and your family?
Word-of-mouth is one way, but if those words come from the mouths of actual practicing dentists, they certainly carry a bit more weight.
We at Hour Detroit know our readers look to us to know who’s the best. With that in mind, we recently asked local dentists to help us determine the tops in their field.
More than 3,000 general dentists, orthodontists, periodontists, and other specialists were asked to which local dentist they would send a member of their immediate family. Once the ballots were returned, each nominee was carefully evaluated on the basis of the survey results, the legitimacy of their license, and their current standing with the Michigan State Dental Board.
On the following pages, listed by specialty, you will find the results of our survey. A dentist’s inclusion is based on the subjective judgments of his or her peers. There are many outstanding professionals who are not listed here. The following is merely intended as a sampling of southeast Michigan’s great body of talent.
