Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History: Featuring pieces that date back to the 1950s, the Transitions of Walter Bailey: An Artist’s Retrospective exhibit is divided into four sections. Flowers of Vietnam: Inside Hazel Park’s Joebar is Frame, a place getting known for hosting visiting chefs. This weekend, George Azar is bringing his restaurant, Flowers of Vietnam, to Frame while his facility is under construction. Seats are going fast. Cranbrook Art Museum: Coinciding with its new exhibit, the museum will host a one-day symposium called Uncovering the Fantasy and Magic of Alexander Girard, which will recount Girard’s influence on Detroit as an architect and interior designer. Girard was born in New York, raised in Florence, and found success in Michigan in 1937 after establishing a retail office and design space in Grosse Pointe. July 22. DTE Energy Music Theatre: Comedian, actor, writer, and author Jim Gaffigan will perform in metro Detroit this month. Michigan Glass Project Main Event 2017: Three days of live painting, glassblowers, jewelers, vendors, music, food, and a silent auction will benefit the Art Road nonprofit, which donates art supplies to students in Detroit public schools.
