The grand opening of the restored Westin Book Cadillac in October will celebrate a four-star oasis for overnight stays, dining, cocktails, and parties. But the festivities also will be a housewarming party of sorts for the select few who will live on the top floors of the opulent 1920s-era hotel
The case goods, upholstery, mirror, rugs, and vases are from Art Van. Grass shades are available through Rariden Schumacher Mio Interior Design, Birmingham.
For a quick burst of color, the designers added ready-made drapery panels from Restoration Hardware. The color picks up on the blue of the Detroit River, visible just beyond.

Top of the Book dwellers will live in luxury with access to such posh perks as 24-hour concierge service, fitness center and pool, private elevators, pet sitting, maid service, and catering. And whenever they come home, a doorman will be there to welcome their arrival.
Sales of the condos, which range in size from 900 to 4,500 square feet, have been relatively brisk. At press time, 53 of the 67 units (including all six penthouses), had been sold.
Ferchill has an explanation for the popularity: “The comment made most by our buyers is that they have been looking to live in downtown Detroit for years, but there was never a product that provided the level of luxury they were looking for in a home.”
