Cravings: Jeremy Grandon

“If I’m not in the kitchen of my restaurant,” says Jeremy Grandon, chef/proprietor of Yardbird Smoked Meats in Keego Harbor, “I am at home in the kitchen, cooking for myself and my wife, Paula. It isn’t often I dine out.” When he does get away from the home fires, he likes to explore the dining scene in Detroit, where Gold Cash Gold is a favorite for fried chicken and pierogies. He also checks out other smokehouse barbecue restaurants, including C.A.Y.A. Smokehouse Grill in Wolverine Lake for its braised short rib pot roast. “If I’m in the mood for Chinese, I like Hong Hua, especially the Peking duck,” Grandon adds. He also likes the French onion soup at Au Cochon in Birmingham, as well as what he calls “its cool décor and atmosphere.”
