Better than ever in its fifth decade, this classic delicatessen continues to pack them in at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu, which boasts a gaggle of soups and sandwiches as well as creamed herring and potato latkes, is almost a rebuke to the small plates crowd. Ensconced in the Boardwalk strip mall for years, it harks back to Oak Park, where proprietor Steve Goldberg’s parents, the late Jack and Harriet Goldberg, opened the Stage in its original location and gave it its name for its proximity to the Northland Playhouse. The Broadway actors who appeared there in the ’60s and ’70s also graced the tables at the deli. The current décor takes the show biz theme even further, with outsize black-and-white portraits of iconic stars. 6873 Orchard Lake Rd., West Bloomfield; 248-855-6622. B, L, and D daily.
