Rochester Tap Room Opens Its Doors

Serving up 60 Taps with a focus on Michigan beer

The Rochester Tap Room opens its doors to the public today, Thursday, March 12. Grand Opening specials will be available over the next few days.

• Free T-shirt to the first 193 guests
• Free Aged-Cheddar Tots for all guests March 12 & 13
• Free $10 Gift Card to the first 100 guests (restrictions apply and 1 per table) March 14
• Kids Eat Free all Sundays in March (after 4 p.m.)

The bar was built using repurposed wood from homes in Detroit. Several of the other elements of the space, including wall panels and the chandelier were built using reclaimed or vintage materials. Much of the décor and artwork reflects the throwback/vintage mentality.

General Manager Michael LaBranche has great expectations for the space. “We’ve got a good room here, and now that the weather is warming up, we’ll be able to utilize our outdoor seating,” LaBranche says. “We want to be the destination that keeps people from the area in the area, instead of having to drive elsewhere for a good drink selection and meal.”

Chef Travis Waynick will update the original menu on a regular basis. Waynick was a Corporate Executive Chef with the Matt Prentice Restaurant Group.

An all-Michigan tap list will be in place for the grand opening, and includes selections from Bell’s, New Holland, Mountain Town Station, Brewery Vivant, Arbor Brewing, Witch’s Hat, Founders, Rochester Mills, Dark Horse, Original Gravity, Keweenaw, Short’s, Greenbush, Odd Side, Atwater, Falling Down, 51 North, Unity Vibration, B Nektar, The Hideout, Tapistry, Rockford, Gonzo’s BiggDogg, Frankenmuth, Blake’s Hard Cider, Griffin Claw, Cheboygan, Dragonmead, Kuhnhenn, North Peak, Vander Mill Cider, Perrin, MillKing It Productions, Wolverine State Brewing, Schmohz, Cranker's, Right Brain, Fenton Winery & Brewery, Jolly Pumpkin, Uncle John’s, and Saugatuck.

 

 

After the grand opening, the draft selection will welcome craft beer from around the world while maintaining an emphasis on Michigan beer. House beer expert Missy Markevics will soon be earning her Cicerone certification. She will be selecting the beer to go on tap and can help diners select the perfect beer pairing for their meal.
