Recipe: My Sweetheart's Comin' 'Round

Published:

After April’s showers, try this refreshing gin and strawberry combo. Anna Atanassova, beverage director at Joebar and its sister space Frame, uses nearly overripe strawberries. But it’s not too sweet, thanks to a hint of bitterness from a pair of aperitifs. “In general, gin and Aperol go together extremely well,” she adds. The name is a lyric from “The Season” by Anderson .Paak, a favorite artist of the crew at this Hazel Park hot spot, which is owned by longtime Hour Detroit photographer Joe Vaughn.

Ingredients

1 ounce gin
¾ ounce strawberry syrup
½ ounce Aperol
½ ounce lemon
¼ ounce Cocchi Rosa
Garnish with something tropical

Directions

Place all ingredients except the flower into a cocktail shaker. Shake and pour over ice into a glass — or make larger batch and pour into a pitcher of your choice. Garnish with tropical accoutrement and crush responsibly.
