Lagers for Lunches

The Livonia Junior Chamber is hosting the first ever Lagers for Lunches to raise money for school lunch programs.

Is craft beer for school lunches a good idea? Well, if it’s a fundraiser to help pay for underprivileged children’s meals, sure.

The Livonia Junior Chamber will be hosting Lagers for Lunches on Friday, Nov. 21 from 7-11 p.m. The chamber donated more than $1,000 for school lunch programs last year to three local schools and plan on widening the impact with the proceeds from the event.

“Our group identified a growing problem with our community schools,” says Livonia School Board Member and Junior Chamber Project Chair Dan Centers. “Our schools are working hard to make sure there are no kids going hungry without a lunch. However, the costs were cutting into other valuable areas. We wanted to give back to those schools to cover those costs and make it easier for all kids to get a balanced meal.”

Stepping up to the proverbial plate for this event are four Michigan breweries, including: Vander Mill Ciders, Shorts Brewing Co., Atwater Brewery, and Oddside Ales. National craft breweries Lagunitas and Dogfish Head will also be participating.

Tickets are $40 each and include 15 drink tickets and appetizers, and can be purchased online at

The event will be held in the Banquet Facility above One Under Craft Beer & Eats.
