Ever since Clint Eastwood rode in on his Gran Torino, summer in the Motor City has been ripe for celebrity sightings. This past season was no exception. Major film and TV productions in town had metro Detroiters seeing stars.

And while we’re watching celebs, they’re busily “tweeting” about us between takes. Some Twitter outtakes:

John Cho, JohnTheCho:
“If what you are into is the most potent margaritas of all time, followed by the largest burrito of all time, Xochimilco in Detroit.”

Ashton Kutcher, aplusk:
“Checking out them Tigers (@ Comerica Park w/ 75 others).”

Wes Craven, wescraven:
“Got a ticket. Didn’t signal before turning. Just a warning would’ve been nice. First moving violation in years. Thank you Ann Arbor police.”

Neil Patrick Harris, ActuallyNPH:
“Went to the best wine shop in the Eastern Market: Cost Plus wine shop. Such a great selection. Tell them I sent you. Love Deeee Troit! (Harris’ partner, David Burtka, grew up in Canton.)

Kal Penn, Kal_Penn:
“Is it too early to be craving the delicious Middle Eastern food I had in Dearborn this weekend? Must go back soon. Grape leaves+Hummus. Yum.”

David Arquette, davidarquette:
“Back in Michigan. Did I tell you how much I love it here?”

Erin Cummings, ErinLCummings:
“Lunch for the 2nd day in a row at my new favorite Royal Oak eatery, Cafe Muse, w the fabulous couture historian & collector Sandy Schreier.”

Miley Cyrus, here filming LOL: Laughing Out Loud, gave Birmingham dog walker Jody Astrein a break and took leash in hand along with LOL co-star Ashley Greene (Twilight). Cyrus was also spotted knocking down pins at the Garden Bowl, lounging at the Westin Book Cadillac, and having a good time at the Mars Bar in Hamtramck with co-star Demi Moore and her “beau toy,” Ashton Kutcher.

It’s been tough to miss David Arquette, who regularly posted pictures and praise for Michigan on Twitter during his stay in Ann Arbor while filming Scream 4 with Neve Campbell, Hayden Panettiere, and (wife) Courtney Cox. Meanwhile, the film’s director, Wes Craven, was pulled over and ticketed for failing to signal while turning.

Ray Liotta, here shooting Street Kings: Motor City, was spotted in Grand Circus Park, seemingly walking to a Tigers game. Then again, just because you see the Goodfellas star with a baseball bat in hand doesn’t necessarily mean he’s on his way to play ball.

Michael Imperioli, star of ABC’s Detroit 1-8-7, was spotted at Starbucks in downtown Royal Oak. The Sopranos star recently told the Freep that he plans to settle down here, as long as the show gets picked up for more episodes. Here’s hoping it fares better than his last cop drama, the short-lived Life on Mars.

Erin Cummings, another Detroit 1-8-7 star and Mad Men cast member, “tweeted” her way through Royal Oak’s Ronin and Midtown Detroit’s Avalon Bakery and Bureau of Urban Living.

“I finally got to do the star sighting Saturday night,” one local wag told Hour Detroit via e-mail. “Gerard Butler [at] Tallulah [Wine Bar in Birmingham]. The guy’s in definite need of a shower.” Butler, who’s here filming Machine Gun Preacher, was also seen singing a duet with Demi Moore at Rockstarz Karaoke Bar & Grill in Garden City.

Alicia Silverstone, in town shooting Vamps with Sigourney Weaver, was so impressed with the vegan cookies from Ferndale’s Pinwheel Bakery that she plugged them on her website, thekindlife.com.

Hugh Jackman reportedly bunked in quaint Franklin Village while starring with Evangeline Lilly in Real Steel (filmed at the downtown Detroit firehouse). He was spotted at Knollwood Country Club in West Bloomfield Township and jogging around Franklin.

Anne Heche, who stars in HBO’s Detroit-based Hung, (and who was once married to former Grosse Pointer Coley Laffoon) shopped for playthings for her children at Birmingham’s Adventures in Toys. She had them delivered to The Townsend, where she was said to be staying.
