Their setting extends from indoors to outdoors with informal communal seating and hosts a variety of music and art events. 474 Peterboro St., Detroit; 313-462-4973; L & D daily. $12

STATION SQUARE /// Chef Chris Hessler has put together a wide-ranging menu of fish, seafood, and beef dishes with an international spin in a handsome, free-standing building in what was formerly Papa Vino’s. Good service by a professional crew and a nice wine list add to the appeal, as does the fact that the proprietors are usually available.
