From October 1-5, Hour Detroit held its biannual event Savor Detroit. The five-night series featured custom menus developed by the city’s most celebrated chefs for one-of-a-kind four-course meals complete with thoughtfully selected wine pairings. Guests also enjoyed unique art installations for the ultimate culinary experience. Monday’s meal was prepared by Chefs John Vermiglio and Joe Glacomino of Grey Ghost and Chef Jessi Patuano of Gather. A portion of the proceeds benefited dozens of local charities.
On Oct. 13, the American Cancer Society held its Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Detroit walk at Hart Plaza in Detroit. Participants included breast cancer survivors and their caregivers, and others hoping to find a cure for the disease. After walking the 5k, attendees enjoyed live music, juice samples from Beyond Juice, and more fun activities. Proceeds benefited the American Cancer Society, raising money for breast cancer research, support, and detection.
On Oct. 4, Cure Multiple Myeloma Corp. held its annual Wine & Dine in the D event on the fourth floor of the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit. Guests enjoyed an evening of delicious gourmet food, a selection of wines, live jazz music, and more. Attendees were also invited to take part in an informative, hour-long discussion about multiple myeloma with medical experts. Proceeds from the eighth annual Wine & Dine event benefited metro Detroit's myeloma community as well as the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in its efforts to find treatment for the disease.
On Oct. 5, The Pink Fund hosted its Dancing with the Survivors event at the Silver Garden Events Center in Southfield. The event paired local breast cancer survivors with professional dancers from Astaire Dance Studios, teaching and performing ballroom-style dances. Guests of the fundraising event enjoyed ballroom dances, cocktails, dinner, and more. Proceeds benefited The Pink Fund in its mission to assist local breast cancer patients in active treatment.
On Oct. 5, the Detroit Wine Organization and Kroger held its annual Detroit Uncorked event at Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan in Detroit. Attendees enjoyed sampling over 300 wines from Michigan and other countries, eating food from over 20 local restaurants, live entertainment, and more. Proceeds from the 14th annual premier wine tasting benefited Gleaners Community Food Bank.
