Savor Detroit, Spring 2016: April 25

From April 25-29, Hour Detroit held its biannual event Savor Detroit. For the first time, local top chefs were paired with guest culinary stars from around the country for the ultimate collaboration at Savor Detroit. Guests enjoyed light appetizers and cocktails as well as a multi-course seated dinner. A portion of the proceeds benefited Gleaners Community Food Bank, which serves more than 500 partner agencies around southeast Michigan by providing millions of pounds of food to feed hungry neighbors. Monday's culinary collaboration featured Chef Luciano Del Signore from Bacco in Southfield, and Chef Thomas Lents from Sixteen Restaurant in Chicago.

On April 22, local musical duo Angela Theis, soprano of the Michigan Opera Theatre Studio, and Ivan Moshchuk, internationally touring pianist, performed at Grosse Pointe War Memorial.

Happy Giving Wednesday for Girls Into Women

On April 27, the Social Metro presented its fourth weekly fundraising cocktail hour at Bella Piatti in Birmingham. The evening benefitted the Rhonda Walker Foundation's Girls Into Women program, which brings together teens for workshops, seminars, retreats, field trips, and camps, focusing on career and personal development.

St. Clare of Montefalco Auction 2016

On April 16, St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School in Grosse Pointe Park held its annual fundraising auction. Guests enjoyed a strolling dinner, desserts, and auctions, featuring items donated by MGM Grand Detroit and Las Vegas, SeaWorld, Shinola, and more. Proceeds from the “Alice in Wonderland” fantasy-themed event benefitted scholarship funding, technology, and enrichment programs at the school.

Belinda Sue Fund Gala 2016

On April 16 at the Henry Autograph Collection in Dearborn, the Belinda Sue Fund hosted its 5th annual gala with a theme of, "An Evening of Masquerade – Unmask Ovarian Cancer." Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour and dinner, as well as silent and live auctions. Proceeds from the gala benefited ovarian cancer awareness and research, and seeded the Belinda Sue – Mary Jane Welker grant through the Foundation for Women’s Cancer.
