The Taste 2017

On Nov. 21, Our Lady Star of the Sea hosted its 6th annual Taste event in Grosse Pointe Woods. Attendees enjoyed a selection of fine wine and food samplings from local restaurants. Proceeds from the community event benefited the parish.

CREW Detroit Keynote Speaker Luncheon 2018

Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Detroit held their 2018 keynote speaker luncheon at the Village Club in Bloomfield Hills on Nov. 14. Attendees enjoyed lunched while communication expert Sarita Maybin served as the event’s lecturer. Funds raised at the event promoted the organization’s task to foster the growing network of female professionals in Detroit’s commercial real estate industry.

Motown Magic Fundraiser 2018

Senior and Caregiver Resource Network (SACRN) hosted their Motown Magic charity event on Oct. 27, at Fairlane Club in Dearborn. Attendees enjoyed a gourmet dinner, complimentary cocktails, and music provided by tribute band Motown Magic. An award ceremony was held to honor the organization’s notable community members, and proceeds benefited Jewish Family Service’s mission to strengthen lives through compassionate service inspired by the wisdom and values of Jewish tradition.

Roaring Into Our 20s Gala 2018

Kids on the Go hosted their “Roaring into our 20’s Gala event on Nov. 3 at the Gem Theatre in Detroit. Guests listened to live music by Grosse Pointe jazz trio Ed Cantrell & Friends, participated in a strolling dinner, live auction and raffles. The event garnered funds for the Grosse Pointe Woods charity to continue providing free summer therapy to special needs children in the metro Detroit area.

Black and White Ball 2018

The Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT) held their Black and White Ball at Rochester’s Royal Park Hotel on Nov. 3. The ball, hosted by General Motors, featured casino games and lectures from local, female technology leaders. After guests enjoyed dinner, a live auction was held to raise funds to support MCWT’s mission to inspire and grow Michigan’s community of women in technology.

Chocolate Jubilee: A Night in Havana 2018

The Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Michigan Chapter hosted their Chocolate Jubilee: A Night in Havana event at the MGM Grand Detroit on Oct. 27. Attendees of the jubilee, which is celebrating its 34th year, enjoyed dinner, danced to the sounds of local band Nouveauté, and sampled chocolates from metro Detroit exhibitors. The event raised $1.2 million for the Alzheimer’s Association to continue funding research, support, and critical care for those affected by the disease.
