Golden Harvest: Dim sum carts roll through the big dining room at midday every day, trundled table to table by friendly servers who lift the lids from the steamers to show diners their options. (The array is especially wide on weekends.) There’s also an extensive menu of authentic Chinese dishes, with an emphasis on fresh seafood from the fresh- and saltwater tanks in the kitchen. 6880 12 Mile Rd., Warren; 586-751-5288. L & D daily. $15 H

La Saj Lebanese Bistro: Another of the good Middle Eastern spots that dot the metro Detroit landscape, this one has higher ambitions than most, with such upscale accents as linen-covered tables, spacious banquettes, and a well-dressed wait staff who show their training. Although the menu offers many familiar-sounding dishes, from hummus and grape leaves to shawarma and spinach pie, each is from a recipe tweaked by the proprietors, brothers Sal and Alex Awada, to give their fare its distinction. 13776 Southcove, Sterling Heights; 586-566-6600. L & D daily. $14 H
