Fall Flavor Weekends focus on farm-to-table fare
2143

All year long, a large percentage of the food served at The Henry Ford’s restaurants are sourced locally — from meats and beverages to baked goods and produce. And there are always live cooking demonstrations at Greenfield Village’s historic homes like the Firestone Farmhouse and the Susquehanna Plantation. But as the harvest season nears, the concept gets an expanded focus. During two tasty Fall Flavor Weekends (Sept. 27-28 and Oct. 4-5), the Village Store will also offer free tastes of Greenfield Village specialty foods, and working farms will demonstrate threshing (separating seeds from the plants) and plowing with steam and horses. Saturdays include a “Local Roots” farmers market where you can purchase goods from local farmers and food suppliers including crafted kitchen accessories.
