Raise your glass to local brews during the week of festivities

The Village of Milford is bringing the inaugural Milford Craft Beer Week to town September 20-26. Milford Craft Beer Week is held in conjunction with the sixth annual Brewed in Michigan craft beer festival.

Guests to the events can participate in a number of activities, including beer dinners, a screening of the “Michigan Beer Film,” beer judging courses, Oktoberfest celebrations, live entertainment, and the Brewed in Michigan Beer Festival.

Costs vary by event and location.

The complete event schedule is as follows:

Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20-21:
Celebrate Oktoberfest with Palate. Guests will enjoy traditional German fare, live entertainment – and of course, das boot! Tickets are available for $30 per person at Palate.

Monday, Sept. 22:
Sample six locally brewed beers perfectly complemented by a four-course meal during Palate’s River’s Edge Beer Dinner. To make a reservation for the event that starts at 6:30 p.m., call 248-977-0408.

Tuesday, Sept. 23:
Celebrate Michigan’s brewing culture as the “Michigan Beer Film” comes to Milford Cinema. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a Cajun turkey dinner presented by Palate and locally crafted beer at River’s Edge Brewing Company. Following the meal, guests will proceed to the Milford Cinema for admission to the film. A portion of the  proceeds will benefit the Village Fine Arts Association’s Suzanne Haskew Arts Center. Tickets are $40 per person and available online.

Thursday, Sept. 25:
Join area craft beer enthusiasts for the inaugural meeting of the Beer Judge Certification Program Study Group at River’s Edge Brewing Company. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. and offer individuals interested in becoming a certified beer judge opportunities to prepare for testing.
