MESA TACOS AND TEQUILA /// The reworking of the space that housed Royal Oak’s Monterrey Cantina for more than 20 years adds a lively cantina to the array of restaurants on Main Street. The two-story setting is open to the street and includes balcony seating in a big, open room where the bar gets equal time with the kitchen. The pop-Mexican menu — you know the list, which includes guacamole, burritos, and the titular tacos — is backed up with an array of tequilas that stretches the length of the bar. Happy hour stretches, too — it’s from 2-6 p.m. weekdays. Flat-screen TVs are everywhere against the brick walls. It’s noisy and convivial. 312 S. Main St., Royal Oak; 248-545-1940. L & D daily. $12
