Celebrate National Yoga Month at These 10 Metro Detroit Studios

September is National Yoga Month, and metro Detroit has plenty of places to start or continue your practice. Check out the list below to find the studio that’s right for you.


Citizen Yoga
With three locations in Metro Detroit, Citizen Yoga has a space for anyone who is searching to find their alignment. Classes range from slow paced Restore and Relax to fast moving Vinyasa. Keep an eye out for special “Vinyasa and Vino” classes offered by the studio this month, which includes an optional post yoga glass of red or white wine. New student specials begin at $25.

Yoga Shelter
Founded in 2004 in West Bloomfield, Yoga Shelter has been working to create an accessible and affordable place to practice for over a decade. Since then, Yoga Shelter has opened locations in Royal Oak, Birmingham, Grosse Pointe and Southfield. New members can try a drop-in class for $20.

Center for Yoga
Students that are brand new to yoga are welcome at the Center for Yoga, but those who have years of practice will find a challenge as well. The variety of classes offered allow for a new experience each time. Classes are offered in both Birmingham and Ann Arbor. New students are offered 30 days of unlimited yoga for $59.

Detroit Yoga Lab
After two years of planning, Detroit Yoga Lab opened in 2012. Today, with more than 30 classes offered each week, owner Naomi Gold and Detroit Yoga Lab have become an integral part of the community. Visit the Lab on September 22 for Fall Equinox Yoga, $25 for non-members.

Namaste Yoga
Nestled near downtown Royal Oak, Namaste Yoga has been offering classes for 17 years for students of all levels. Their weekly schedule offers Vinyasa and Restorative classes, as well as with Prenatal and Baby and Me. New students can enjoy unlimited yoga for $49 for the first month.

Detroit Bikram
Detroit Bikram’s mission is to “Raise the Vibration of Metro Detroit and the World.” Offering practices in both Troy and Farmington Hills, their team works to give their students the best yoga experience possible. Check out their Inferno Hot Pilates class, a high intensity interval training session, for an upbeat and challenging class. New students can try out 30 days unlimited for $49.

Nafas Fitness
Known for their fitness and dance classes, Nafas has recently opened a new yoga studio. The Royal Oak based space offers all classes ranging from Basic to Yin Yoga. Classes are offered both early in the morning and late at night. New member packages begin at $69 a month.

EnSoul Yoga
Less than one year old, EnSoul Yoga has found its home in the heart of Downtown Ferndale. EnSoul believes that yoga is about a long-term transformation and promises their students will see a change in themselves. Begin your journey with the new student special offered for $39.

Little Lotus Wellness Studio
Offering not only yoga, but also mediation and massage therapy, Little Lotus Wellness is a one stop shop for your self-care needs. Classes include Yoga Basics and Vinyasa, as well as Rebel Warrior, rock and roll yoga that is perfect for those who want to break a sweat while Led Zeppelin plays in the background. Try five classes at Little Lotus for $60.

Everyday Yoga
Located in Clawson, Everyday Yoga is working to make yoga affordable to the entire community. The studio offers “Happy Hour Yoga” each day for $8.
