November Food EventsThe cold is setting in here in Detroit and dinner party season is in full swing. In the spirit of the season we’ve rounded up the best food and drink events around metro Detroit. It is time to put on your winter weight, after all.


November 3

Busch’s Fresh Food Market is sponsoring the Toast to Education tasting event this week to benefit Farmington Public Schools. Local restaurants will be providing samples of some of their most popular dishes, while Busch’s provides numerous wine and beer options.

Doctor Sushi is sharing a few of his expert tips in a hands-on sushi-rolling workshop. Students will learn to make a few different types of sushi and then taste test their own creations. Supplies are available for all diets, including vegan and gluten-free options.

November 4

Get a taste of what it takes to be a bartender at The Sugar House during a condensed version of their Mixology Fundamentals class. During the two-hour session, participants will make three drinks covering a wide array of techniques including shaking and stirring.

Visit Eastern Market this weekend for the All Things Detroit and Food Truck Rally. Hundreds of vendors will take over the sheds to provide visitors with a memorable day of shopping, food and entertainment.

November 9

Detroit’s Republic Restaurant is holding its second installment of the 2017 Wine Dinner series this month. Visit the Republic on November 9 for a five-course French inspired meal complete with wine pairings. The event is hosted by Republic’s Sous Chef, Chris Demuth, Sean Sutton from Michigan’s Woodberry Wines and Nicolas Hirissou of Domain du Moulin winery.

Sip, Savor and Shop in Rochester will offer guests the chance to visit 30 unique vendors all in one place all while supporting a great cause. The Rochester Community Schools Foundation is the recipient all of funds raised during the event, which includes a raffle and a silent auction.

Executive Chef Reva Constantine of the Great Lakes Culinary Center is teaming up with Executive Chef Lee Ulrich from Joe Produce Gourmet Market for a five-course Fall Harvest Wine Dinner. Each course will include a wine pairing. The evening will begin with signature cocktails, wine, beer, and passed appetizers.

HopCat is joining forces with Founders Brewing Company for a one night only Beer Dinner. Courses include pineapple skewers with a sriracha honey glaze, and pumpkin spiced French toast stopped with bourbon cream cheese frosting. Each course is paired with a carefully selected Founders beer.

November 16

Get a taste of local restaurants including GreenSpace and Cacao Tree this month during the Plant Based Holiday Cooking Extravaganza. The event includes plant-based cooking demonstrations, samples, and take-home recipes to try on your own.

November 18

Electric Plate Vegan Pop-Up is closing out their season with its Vegan Thankful Giving dinner at Urbanrest Brewing. A portion of the proceeds will benefit a community group whose works focuses on is social injustice issues, food deserts, or land disparities.

November 21

Love & Buttercream in Birmingham will be hosting a DIY Holiday Pies class right in time for Thanksgiving. Students will learn skills like perfecting pie dough, and will create either two 9-inch pies, or one 9-inch pie and 8-10 individual mini pies, with a choice of apple, pumpkin and cherry fillings.

November 26 – December 2

More than 24 metro Detroit restaurants including Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails, The Root Restaurant & Bar, Takoi, and Grey Ghost participating in the first “Hot Dogs for Dogs” week, benefiting Detroit Dog Rescue. During the week long event created by Chef James Rigato of Mabel Gray, area restaurants and bars will feature signature hot dogs, like the Ciociaro Dog with Southern Italian ragu and pecorino fondue from Supino Pizzeria. Sales from each dog will benefit the rescue.

Gold Cash Gold and Redemption Rye Whiskey have partnered up to present a limited-seating, five-course dinner. The menu features fall inspired dishes, including produce from Gold Cash Gold’s Corktown farm. Each could is perfectly paired with craft cocktails using selections from Redemption’s small-batch spirit collection.
