From barbecue ribs to foosball, The Fountain Detroit — a trendy shipping container restaurant and bar — is opening a seasonal barbeque spot this weekend. Located within Campus Martius Park, the restaurant will serve beach bites, burgers, and craft cocktails in hopes of offering the ultimate-urban-barbecue-beach-side experience.

The vibrantly-colored, open-air space will include a six-foot long cooking surface and barbecue smoker to whip up a rotating selection of savory summer dishes. Menu items include picks like beef brisket, barbecue ribs, and smoked chicken, along with an assortment of side dishes and sweet, tangy, and spicy house-made sauces, ranging from $8 to $12.

Jordan Hoffman, executive chef for The Fountain Detroit BBQ and nearby Parc restaurant, believes the 320-square foot beach-themed space is truly one-of-a-kind. “We’re extremely excited [to bring] a new dynamic to downtown Campus Martius Park and kick-off what will be an exciting summer season.”

The seasonal barbecue dining spot will be open to the public through October. Follow the waft of barbecue in the air, and make your way on over to Detroit’s urban beach. It’s a hard-to-miss gem decorated with patio lights, orange umbrellas, and beach games. The perfect eat-and-play.
