Midtown contemporary art gallery Galerie Camille is debuting Life is But a Dream on Oct. 1. The exhibition will feature four local artists — Mary Fortuna, Scott Northrup, Luzhen Qiu, and Sarah Rose Sharp — who have each explored “dream-like themes” in their work.
Among the pieces presented in the show will be a mobile with feathers, bones, and stones created by Fortuna, a fiber artist who has been part of the Detroit art community for more than two decades and exhibited her puppets in exhibits across the globe. Northrup, an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and curator who serves as the director of digital filmmaking at College for Creative Studies, will showcase film and collage works in the exhibit. Qiu, a Chinese American mixed-media artist who has exhibited in galleries across the state as well as China, is showing her multi-layered collage drawings. And Sharp, a multi-hyphenate creative who has written for numerous art publications and shown her work in galleries both locally and nationally, is sharing her embroidered fiber paintings and dollhouses.

Life is But a Dream will be open through Oct. 30. The gallery is holding an opening reception on Friday. Those interested in attending can get free tickets on Eventbrite. Additionally, an artist talk will be held at the gallery on Oct. 9.
Galerie Camille is located at 4130 Cass Ave. The gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.
