On May 9, editorial and advertising photographer John Roe (a frequent Hour Detroit contributor) held an opening reception in his Michigan Avenue loft studio to honor and showcase the work of local art directors, art buyers, and copywriters.

On May 1, The Donate Life Coalition of Michigan presented Alive 08 at the Detroit Science Center. The evening supported the coalition’s mission of educating the public about the importance of organ donation.

Saks Fifth Avenue and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America presented a luncheon and fashion show on April 29. The presentation featured fall clothing by Escada and showcased the talent of Damiano Biella, new creative director for the luxury brand.

The Detroit Historical Society presented its 2008 Gala on April 18 at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. The evening included music, a silent auction, and an opportunity to view new exhibits.

On April 17, Alternatives for Girls held its Role Model dinner at the Detroit Institute of Arts. The evening included a VIP reception, silent auction, and dinner.

Nordstrom celebrated the opening of another Michigan store on April 16 at The Mall at Partridge Creek. The evening benefited the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and Henry Ford Macomb, and included hors d’oeuvres, buffet dining, live music, and shopping.

The 19th annual Bow Wow Brunch was held on April 13 at The Ritz-Carlton Dearborn. Sponsored by the Michigan Humane Society, the event included a silent auction and brunch.
