The Charity Preview for the North American International Auto Show is taking place at the Cobo Center this Friday, Jan. 18. In celebration of the gala, one of the most highly anticipated events in Detroit, which raises millions in funds for local charities, there are a slew of parties hosted throughout the city. From dressed-down gatherings promising live music, to upscale soirees boasting gourmet samplings, we’ve taken the liberty of helping you plan this auto show weekend.

Auto Glow 2019

Ford’s Auto Glow is the perfect after, or before, party for the North American International Auto Show. Starting even earlier this year at 4:30 p.m. and going until midnight, the evening promises cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a strolling dinner, live entertainment, and raffle prizes at Ford Field. Proceeds from the event benefit more than 7,500 children and families that are a part of the Children’s Center; whose mission is to help these individuals overcome the trauma from abuse, neglect, and poverty. Tickets are $325 per person and can only be purchased by NAIAS Charity Preview ticket holders. 2000 Brush St., Detroit; 888-838-7500; thechildrenscenter.com

Detroit Foundation Hotel

In honor of NAIAS’s last January showing, the Detroit Foundation Hotel, which is a stone’s throw from the Cobo Center, is hosting a bash. Rumored to have some of the best shindigs in the Motor City, the hotel’s will feature performances by Detroit’s Horizon, sets by DJ Thornstryker, live art presentations and amazing cocktails. There is no cover cost or required dress code for this event. 250 W. Larned St., Detroit; 313-800-5500, detroitfoundationhotel.com

Decadent Denim VII

If you’re looking for an after party that promises glamour without the ball gowns and tuxedos, Detroit’s Roostertail is hosting its seventh annual Decadent Denim event. The dress code: denim, of course. Attendees, who must be age 21 or up, will enjoy signature small plates every hour and an open bar between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Hassle-free parking and coat check will be available for guests’ convenience. General admission is $25, and for $450, party-goers can secure a VIP booth with champagne bottle service and 12 drink tickets. 100 Marquette Dr., Detroit; 313-822-1234 ext. 134, eventbrite.com

Detroit Staycation Club

The Detroit Staycation Club, a social group for cultural outgoings in metro Detroit, is hosting a new auto show tradition at the newly renovated Detroit Club — a Sunday brunch to mark the occasion. With the purchase of $35 ticket, attendees will be treated to a breakfast buffet and a mimosa upon arrival, along with a live performance by Commerce Township’s Drew Machak, who will play a number of his pop-soul tracks. A short program featuring a conversation with an auto-industry expert is scheduled for the event. 712 Avenue E, Detroit; 248-840-7263; detroitstaycationclub.com
