Award-winning 6 Salon will debut its third location in the heart of Detroit this fall. Located in the Bedrock Lofts at Merchant Row building on Woodward Avenue, the salon will feature 18 cutting chairs, two manicure stations, two pedicure stations, two makeup stations, and barbering stations.

The 3,900-square-foot Detroit space, at 1141 Woodward Ave., was inspired by owners George Nikollaj, Johnny Nikollaj, and Tomy Lulgjuraj’s love for the energetic city. They have contracted Detroit-based design studio M1/DTW, which designed 6 Salon’s other locations in Royal Oak and Birmingham, to work on the Detroit location.

“Each salon adapts to the location that it’s in,” George says. “You know that you’re in a 6 Salon, but our Birmingham location has a different feel than the Royal Oak salon. We are keeping a lot of the original décor in our new location, so it will really have that Detroit feeling when you walk in.”

In an effort to expand their clientele, 6 Salon is adding barbers to its staff. While the Royal Oak and Birmingham salons offer men’s haircuts, George believes that the new addition of these specialist will bring something new to the table.

“We’re a salon that offers a little bit of everything, and I think that’s rare in Detroit. We are going to be offering shave services, which is something we’re really looking forward to adding to our menu,” George says. “Getting your hair cut by a hair stylist and getting your hair cut by a barber are two very different experiences.”

The new salon will employ between 35 to 40 people. The salon’s three owners opened the first 6 Salon in 2003 in Royal Oak. They opened their second salon in downtown Birmingham in 2006. For more information, visit sixsalon.com.
