Gardner White Opens New Retail Concept in Downtown Detroit
Gardner White opened GW Home, a new brand concept, at 1201 Woodward Ave., across the street from Hudson’s Detroit on June 6. According to the furniture retailer, guests will experience a “first-of-its-kind home retail destination” in Detroit that will feature a revolving line-up of local artist collaborations and brand partnerships that produce furniture, decor, and art that is reflective of the city’s “creative spirit.” In collaboration with ArtClvb, a rotating collection of ceramics, art, paintings, and photographs from local artists, like Sheefy McFly, Ivan Montoya, Sarah Rice, Amy Feigley-Lee, and more will also be available. Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit Receives $200,000 Grant
Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting those whose lives have been touched by cancer, received a two-year $200,000 grant from Exhale – The Family Caregiver Initiative in May. The funding will be used to support their three-pronged program meant to provide relief for primary caregivers of older adults living with cancer, as well as their collaborative initiative with Lori’s Hands to provide caregivers with one-on-one phone support, monthly educational dinners, and access to basic at-home services. Groundbreaking Ceremony Takes Place in Detroit’s Woodbridge Neighborhood
The groundbreaking of 4401 Rosa Parks Apartments, a new affordable housing community that will bring 60 homes to the Woodbridge neighborhood, took place on May 15. The $25.8 million project will create a four-story building with 40 one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom apartments at affordable prices to accommodate different incomes. “Adding 60 new units of beautiful affordable housing right here in the Woodbridge District demonstrates how as the city continues to grow, we are working together to make sure Detroiters of all incomes can afford to live well, even in some of the hottest neighborhoods,” Mayor Mike Duggan said.
JoJo’s ShakeBar Announces Fun Experiences for the Summer in Detroit

Bedrock Announces Second Tenant at Hudson’s Detroit
