    H. Karl Winter

    Advanced Implant & Cosmetic Dentistry

For most of us, having the opportunity to work with one of the pioneers in our career field is a dream. To become the person they trust to take over their work is even more so.

Dr. H. Karl Winter graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, earned an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University in Malibu, and earned two fellowships in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is also a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Winter began studying the science of dental implants in the late 1980s with Dr. Carl Misch, one of the leading experts in the then-emerging field. This spring, Dr. Misch asked Dr. Winter to take over his Beverly Hills practice, knowing he would provide the level of exceptional care both men are known for.

Advanced Implant and Cosmetic Dentistry reflects Dr. Winter’s state-of-the-art knowledge in both fields, and the connections between them. He also performs all necessary dental procedures.

“The implant field is really a surgical reconstructive field with a large cosmetic component,” Dr. Winter says. “Implants change the whole facial aesthetic for people who have lost teeth.”

Implants have become the preferred method of restoring missing teeth when possible, because they actually replace and restructure the bony parts that support the implant. When a person has a tooth extracted, they lose 33 percent of bone volume in the area within the first six months, and 50 percent within a year. While bone loss causes cosmetic concerns, more importantly, it can result in health complications. Difficulty chewing fresh fruits and vegetables impacts dietary health, and it causes gastrointestinal problems because a lack of dentition means food isn’t broken down by saliva before reaching the digestive tract. “People who have implants add years to their lifespan because of their restored eating ability, which allows them to have better nutrition,” Dr. Winter says. “There’s a tremendous benefit to implants – more than just replacing a tooth.” Dr. Winter prides himself in providing a wide range of dental procedures performed at a level that exceeds his patients’ expectations.

A staff of skilled, professional team members assists Dr. Winter. He spends extensive time with each patient so they can understand the procedure they are about to undergo. Dr. Winter keeps abreast of all new technological advances in implant and cosmetic dentistry, and uses CAT scans and sophisticated computer modeling for the highest level of precision in determining the exact placement of the implant. Once the surgical plan is in place, Dr. Winter’s skill and technique enable him to get the job done gently and quickly.

The office blends the latest in technology with the amenities patients want in a beautiful and comfortable setting. Digital radiography allows patients to see images of their teeth right on a screen in the room. Companions waiting for a patient to who is undergoing a surgical procedure can use computer stations or Wi-Fi to catch up on work while they wait.

A beautiful smile translates easily in any language, and Dr. Winter’s leading-edge expertise will keep your smile beautiful and healthy for a lifetime.
